Desert Bills Fan Posted Tuesday at 01:18 AM Posted Tuesday at 01:18 AM The Bills added 5 new coaches: Chris Tabor (special teams coordinator) Ryan Nielsen (senior defensive assistant) Mike Pellegrino (nickels coach) Jason Rebrovich (assistant defensive line) Turner West (assistant special teams) Will Greenberg head strength and conditioning coach Barry Rubin senior strength and conditioning assistant At this point in the season, I don’t think there is any improvement on special teams, defense or S&C. Not heard any kudos from McDermott or Babbich that there was any big contributions. too bad, thought we might see some improvements from new blood. 1 Quote

EmotionallyUnstable Posted Tuesday at 01:34 AM Posted Tuesday at 01:34 AM (edited) Fair question: I think a lot of people were most interested in the addition of Nielsen, specifically since he has a history of playing a more agressive style on D (man and blitz). I wonder if their plan has been hampered by the injuries and if we’ll see any change in scheme with the return of some guys like Hairston. Edited Tuesday at 01:36 AM by EmotionallyUnstable 2 2 Quote

I think STs has been in the up this year despite the revolving Punter/holder situation. But that may have something to do with Matt Prater over Bass and less to do with Tabor 1 1 Quote

BillsFooteball Posted Tuesday at 11:01 AM Posted Tuesday at 11:01 AM I believe bills are 2nd in NFL in pressure rate which can be contributed to addition of Nielsen and Rebrovich. Special teams is improved though that’s not a hard bar to leap after Smiley Quote
frostbitmic Posted Tuesday at 12:18 PM Posted Tuesday at 12:18 PM Seems as if penalties against us have gone up Still can't stop the run Still can't get off the field on 3rd and long Tackling is abysmal Our oft injured Defense seems to be bruised and bloodied Seems like the same ole same ole to me. 1 Quote

I'm guessing you mean sarcasm. But please explain how they've done a bad job. And if you're serious, then just disregard the below: I remind you, the Bills have one of the best, top notch training facilities in the league. Also, that EVERY SINGLE TEAM deals with boatloads of injuries. To point the finger at trainers is ridiculous in my opinion. Injuries are part of the game no matter who your conditioning coach is. SCBills Posted Tuesday at 02:10 PM Posted Tuesday at 02:10 PM I actually think they’re doing a good job with the DL, especially given the injuries they’ve had to deal with. The issue is that the Back 7 has provided next to zero resistance to allow the DL to get home. 1 Quote
Paup 1995MVP Posted Tuesday at 02:56 PM Posted Tuesday at 02:56 PM As a fan you can get a reset when we have a bye. And really focus on the rest of the NFL. The teams, the players, the schemes. And the biggest takeaways is 1)how lacking we are with speed at WR. Keon would probably not be playing boundary WR on almost any other team. He has no burst or twitch to separate. But we still need to take more shots to the intermediate and deep parts of the field with everyone else. Have to try and use the entire field. Get Kincaid 12-15 targets if you have to. He is are only matchup problem for opposing defenses. He needs to be out Jamar Chase or Jackson Smith Ingigba. And on defense are back 7 are the least athletic, least physical of any team I watched in week 7. Even Benford has no explosive twitch to him. Our best player right now is Shaq Thompson. And he is an 11 year vet who would be a solid back up on most teams, but would not start. This is an epic fail by Beane and McDermott to have so little speed aggressiveness and athleticism on the defense. (And little talent at WR) Everyone is playing pressure D all over the field. Last night all 4 QB’s were under attack. We need to really change things up. Hopefully w Hairston Hoecht and Ogunjobi we can do that more. But the league has really evolved on defense over the past few years. And we are left behind right now. Our roster needs a major makeover at WR, LB and secondary. Really troubling. 3 1 Quote
RyanC883 Posted Tuesday at 03:04 PM Posted Tuesday at 03:04 PM as long as McD is here, adding or subtracting coaches won't really matter. The D is still the soft shell nonsence. Quote

Why did Eric Ciano get fired? Too many injuries according to people in the Bills organization. I agree that injuries are part of the game and yes I mean sarcasm. I don’t even know who the strength and conditioning coach is. Quote

From https://www.buffalorumblings.com/2025/2/15/24365585/buffalo-bills-part-ways-with-former-coach-of-the-year-recipient-eric-ciano But it seems that the problem may have stemmed from the inability to get players back to playing form, and/or the inability to develop the strength of young players. With Frazier you could notice certain wrinkles here and there, even if the overall scheme was the same. Past few seasons I don't even notice that- we just kinda line up and do our thing and hope the offense doesn't execute efficiently 🤷♂️ 2 1 Quote

I get it but sometimes out of the coach’s control. Ex. Matt Milano gets hurt this year and comes back for a half and misses more games for the same injury. Quote
