BigAl2526 Posted October 20 Posted October 20 Not a question of "if" but a question of "when" Mike McDaniel is canned. I agree with Casey that he has a good offensive mind. I would never consider him as a head coach. However, if Joe Brady moves to a head coaching opportunity elsewhere, he does offer something as an OC. There are some questions about fit, however. McDaniel built the Miami offense for speed. Last season, they had the fastest WR corps and the fastest RBs in the league. He wouldn't have anywhere near that in Buffalo. Curtis Samuel and Elijah Moore have some speed, but they barely get on the field. James Cook has enough speed, but nothing like the pair of Raheem Mostert and Devon Achane. In 2025 Achane's backup, Jalen Wright is faster than Cook. The question is, what would McDaniel do with Buffalo's far more pedestrian team speed? 1 Quote

Interim coaches occasionally give their team a bump. I think he is gunning for the #1 pick. 3 Quote

They're stuck with Tua for one more year, and currently are the only team with less cap space than the Bills. So tanking this year and getting the best picks possible is the only option for giving the new regime any hope, even with a grace year. 2 Quote

Keep it short, we want long time consuming drives, keep the Defense off the field as much as possible. Quote

He was 12 for 27 vs Kentucky this past Saturday. 3 Quote

And really, he better be happy with the #2 pick. I don't think even the Jets can mess that up this year. Quote

SCBills Posted October 21 Posted October 21 Super cool having these sellers in division so we’d have to pay a premium or be blocked entirely to make a trade. Quote

He took Shannahan's system, got some really fast guys, matched them with a noodle armed QB and had some success initially. Then when teams figured him out he's been unable to adapt and evolve on his own. Dolphin fans that watch him week in and week out are disgusted by his play calling. He abandons the run for huge chunks of the season. He's shown absolutely zero ability to create on his own. He lacks awareness. He's not a good offensive mind in any way shape or form IMO. 5 minutes ago, SCBills said: Super cool having these sellers in division so we’d have to pay a premium or be blocked entirely to make a trade. It really stinks when the 2 worst teams in football are in your division and you know it's an extreme longshot they would off load any players of value to us without a significant overpay. Quote

But it is kinda like 4 free wins.. and considering you need like 10-11 to make the playoffs thats a nice leg up. Also if these players were so good, the team wouldn't suck so hard. Quote

Until that changes, the Jests are going to rinse-and-repeat ad infinitum, just like the Bills and the Lions did for decades until new ownership changed the mindset at the top. The last decent NFL QB the Jests drafted was Chad Pennington in 2000. The last successful HC the Jests had was Rex Ryan who left after 2014. They may accidently walk into a coach like Bowles who is pretty good and get a QB who is a journeyman like Fitz who is hot to get a wildcard spot. But it will be more accidental then intentional. The great irony is that in the current playoff format the Jets would have made the playoffs as the 7th seed and played New England who they did beat once and lost by 7 the other time. The owner has no ability just to step back and let actual football people run stuff. It was beyond evident last year and continues to be this year. Edited October 21 by corta765 1 Quote
