I would imagine some of the jobs that don't require a person to be there will be replaced with AI sooner than later.

I fixed that for you. Working remote/ isn’t going away in all aspects.. Some of the jobs will be, 💯.  You’ll always be able to make money online if you are motivated and have a computer and internet.  And you’ll be able to live a decent life living on the beach while making $15-20 an hour.

But I do get what you’re saying.  Many jobs will be replaced.  Time are a changing

I don’t really value living near to close friends.  I moved away from my close friends in recent years and I talk to them as much as I did when we lived in the same city.

Family, on the other hand it a bit tougher.   By the time we start traveling, I’ll be the last one of my immediate side of the family. My wife’s parents are 77 and her sister has a husband and kids. We may be moving up to live near them (outside of Portland Or) after this football season, but now they’re all talking about relocating to Bend OR.  It’s gorgeous there, but it’s ridiculously expensive and we’ve decided it’s not worth our retirement to relocate there.

If you get a remote job that pays as much as a non remote job in the US, you’ll be paying off you student loans much faster if you were living in SE Asia.  That’s one of the reasons why so many expats are moving there in recent years. Affordability.

It's hard for me to be away from certain groups I'm close with. Moved West to Denver, and not meeting face to face was why I moved back East.

I lived in China for a bit, it's certainly affordable. My loans are steep so I don't think a remote job that can afford them is realistic, but I wouldn't truly know until I dipped my feet.

I forgot to add my family is from Dunkirk, I saw you were born there. We used to have a house in the Harrysburg neighborhood on Lake Shore Dr West.

Wife’s best friend’s family had a place on the water in Van Buren Bay for many years. Had some good times up there.

Very cool.  I was born in Dunkirk and moved to Vegas in ‘98 after college.  Similar story.  Just moved to St. George Utah 2 years ago.  Loving it here at the moment, but we’re ready to experience what the world has to offer.  Not a fan of cultural climate in the states atm.

I’m thinking we’ll be spending the late fall/winters in the states so we can travel the country and watch Bills games.

I assume it’s possible to watch YouTubeTV in SE Asia if you have a VPN?

I can watch YouTube, amazon prime, netflix, etc. I bring a fire stick with me. I have in the past watched replays of the games next day as they are 12 hours ahead there and games are on middle of the night. Would be nice to catch replays and other sports at a bar with decent food and drink. We watched the bills vs ravens playoff game at a little restaurant in Vung Tau VN owned by a Canadian guy. Late game so we had some breakfast and beers while we watched.  The best time of year to visit SE Asia is probably December to early may. Not much rain but lots of tourists. I’m heading there Tuesday for a while and will experience “rainy” season for the first time.

I was born in Dunkirk and my entire extended family (for the most part) lives there still.   But I grew up in New Paltz NY, as we relocated for my fathers job. My mother was living in her house on Albany ave in Dunkirk until she became ill and couldn’t care for herself.  I go back yearly to check on the tenants and maintenance

Sanchez got arrested and the person that stabbed him is a 69 year old man. This wasn't a random incident where Sanchez was the victim. This was Sanchez drunkenly accosting a senior citizen who was trying to do his job and legitimately feared for his safety.

What makes a seemingly normal, married father with kids get into a physical altercation with an elderly man.

It’s bizarre, and yeah I understand alcohol seems to effect many people negatively but even drunk, that’s a long ways off from his previous behaviour, unless there’s a history I’m unaware of.

   Size and strength matter.
Assuming the guy maybe wasn’t nearly as big or physically capable as a former NFL player he may well have had to. Don’t know the particulars but escalations of force is not unthinkable

Without seeing it, im still 99% sure this was justified.

Youre just trying to do your job and some crazed drunk guy (big too, ppl forget how big qbs are compared to normal people) opens your door, damages your face..... you pepper spray the guy, and he doesn't immediately retreat?!?

That's scary af!! Would make me think hes on drugs, cause normal people dont eat pepper spray... also gives you an idea of how angry he had to be. Regardless of whatever words were exchanged, to be mad enough to do this AND THEN eat pepper spray and not stop... that's someone completely outta control.

Sanchez is lucky dude wasn't carrying concealed!! I generally like Sanchez, but dudes got some demons, at minimum. Likely an alcohol problem, possibly drugs too.

Blackout drunk is blackout drunk and I'm going to guess that this weekend wasn't the first time.

“One toke over the line” leads you to the railway station, while one shot of tequila gets over the line and you a visit to a couple other public facilities, the hospital and the Big House.

I’m not aware of any violent/booze/drug related history with him.  I believe he had a history in another area which one would think would preclude him getting a network job.

Lived in HK and Singapore for roughly a decade in total and that was the worse part of it, couldn’t watch live NFL games at all and back then there weren’t the apps that there are now to just download the game and watch on your phone. It’s bad enough here in the UK when the late games are on, but that was worse, even normal 1pm Sunday games were middle of the night and later games were ok but of course I had to be at work as it was Monday. Only silver lining is it coincided with a large chunk of the drought years, so I guess I didn’t miss too much.

I remember watching the packers v Steelers Super Bowl on a Monday morning at about 7am at my in laws house in china, no English commentary but at least I could watch it, was a strange experience as it was also Chinese New Year’s Day so we had people dropping in all morning who I’m sure were wondering who the hell the big white guy was eating dumplings and getting excited at the TV 🤣
