NFL Foundation: Provides grants to youth and high school football programs to promote safe and healthy practices, equipment, and facilities. Yup. Those are charities aligned with the NFL's interests, but still worthy on their own merits. 1 Quote

Mango Posted September 22 Posted September 22 I doubt he is getting fined for this. I will say that the amount of fake AI news on social media (facebook in particular) is out of control. I know we stopped trying to fact check the internet, but it is getting out of control. Quote
WideNine Posted September 22 Posted September 22 (edited) Easy enough thing to avoid and I am less concerned about the fines which (as folks have pointed out) do not really have much of an impact on player salary and go to charity, but more concerned about when those end up as 15-yard penalties during a game wiping out long gainers and scores. I recall Kincaid did that gesture last year on a critical 3rd down conversion and I was just cringing waiting for the yellow hanky. Dumb rule or not, it is on the coaches to get players to play within the structure of the rules and to strongly discourage "the dumb" of self-inflicted penalties. Especially ones where the in-game penalty call seem largely at the discretion of whatever referee crew we end up having during a critical game as those calls tend to be the momentum-swinging kind that drive me nuts. JoeF Posted September 22 Posted September 22 PETA will be all over this...finger gunning a mammal animal. Blowback will be tremendous. Flipper already pissed... 2 Quote
LABILLBACKER Posted September 22 Posted September 22 If he is fined, I'd refuse to pay it. That is not a gun gesture. Ridiculous.... Quote

Hunt got flagged after his TD for making a half of a throat slash motion, and will certainly be fined this week. Cant even make a bow-and-arrow motion. Would be funny if a player decided to see how far (or small) they could take it. Like maybe do a slingshot motion, see if that gets a fine. Throwing a paper airplane maybe? way too risky i still cant believe the bills released video evidence of him throwing a boomerang 1 Quote
RobbRiddick Posted September 22 Posted September 22 "The NFL hates guns and WILL NOT glorify violence. We are a family league and will not condone any gesture that looks like it could be a gun, even if you have to narrow your eyes to see it. We'll be back to watch serial woman-beater Tyreek Hill, last year's number 1 player in the NFL, right after this trailer for a new film where a crazed maniac kills multiple people with many guns. Oh, and buy more Budweiser!" 2 Quote

machine gun kelly Posted September 22 Posted September 22 Guys, this was a dolphins troll trying to rile up stuff. He was pointing together the guy off the field so they remain in the right 11 persons on the field and not fined for too many men on the field. It was discussed multiple times over the weekend. These Fishfans remind me of the worst of us during the drought making something out of nothing. Josh would have been fined by now on a Thursday game. Quote
Ethan in Cleveland Posted September 22 Posted September 22 I think he was just pointing at the flag on the ground already and the fact he didn't have to complain to the refs. Correct me if I'm wrong but I think this is the play where he drew the flag for roughing. It was not in any way simulated gunshot. Quote

It really would be hysterical, because there is such an enormous gray area, and literally countless options. I’d especially enjoy the league’s reaction as gamblers started getting angry. I didn’t used to understand Booing Goodell at the Draft……until the last few years. I’d like to see him talk his way out of another mess. Quote

Gunner Posted September 22 Posted September 22 7 hours ago, pennstate10 said: saw an article saying Allen would be fined for this. Im not sure. Maybe he was simulating gunfire, and maybe he was pointing to a guy and signalling he would be ejected. As I recall the entire play, Allen first points to his head while in the ground. So maybe he’s just pointing things out to help the refs. That was a "get him outta here" move. Quote
