bmur66 Posted September 19 Posted September 19 It is Praters job to lose. He kicks strait down the middle with one exception so far. Bass always slices or hooks the ball thru. If Prater keeps making kicks then how can you change kickers? 1 1 Quote

He shanks one kick and everyone starts losing it....just stop....I'm riding Prater the rest of the season. I lost faith in Bass when he missed that KC kick. We way overpaid him on that extension. To be fair, Bass was good last season and delivered in the big moments. Having said that, I still don't trust him. 1 Quote
BuffBillsForLife Posted September 19 Posted September 19 The shank was just so incredibly bad that I can only assume something went wrong with the kicking process. Play Prater the rest of the year and then draft a kicker next season, let the Bass experiment end. 2 Quote

If I have a choice between a kicker who's best season was 96.3% and a kicker who's best is 87%, I'm taking the veteran at 96%. One shank isn't going to spook me. My gut tells me not to trust Bass anymore. 3 Quote

I was generally okay with him based on him having redeemed himself a bit last year, but I absolutely feel more comfortable with Prater for everything inside of say 52-53 yards. Quote
BullBuchanan Posted September 19 Posted September 19 Prater is a huge upgrade. McD shies away from 50 yard kicks with Bass. Prater can nail it from 60. He gives us something Bass doesn't. It just might be the difference in winning a big game. 2 Quote

I love Praters ability to place the kickoffs in the corner pretty much every time. Has done a great job except for this miss but he did connect on the one to ice the game. From what I understand a player on 4 game minimum IR has no designated time to come off IR. I say keep Bass on IR and go with Prater until he proves you wrong. Honestly, I’ve had about enough of Bass. Just a terrible kick...he literally wasn't even facing the proper direction when he kicked the ball...might be one of the worst kicks I have ever seen in terms of there not appearing to be any mishaps involved. 2 Quote

I was at the game, but people stood and I missed it. Watching the game and have not gotten to that point to see it. Was it a case of new team and 2nd holder in a few weeks? Think the dude is a very good kicker so surprised he missed it so bad! 1 Quote

No, he was literally facing at a 45 degree angle towards the left as if he was trying to kick the ball to the corner section of the stands 1 Quote

Watch the highlights, someone from the dolphins was coming in unblocked from the left side and that may have rushed/hurried Prater because he feared the kick getting blocked 1 Quote

BigAl2526 Posted September 19 Posted September 19 The missed field goal was pretty brutal. There is also the issue of Prater's age. He's 41 years old, and if the Bills opted to go with him, it would likely be a short term solution only. I don't think it is an easy decision at all for Buffalo. Quote
GASabresIUFan Posted September 19 Posted September 19 Simple rule of football, don’t leave your success dependent on a kicker or ref. Quote

Yes he absolutely improved the 2nd half of last season. That got me excited and encouraged. He even seemed to somehow fix the crazy slice. But right out of the gate he gets hurt preseason. You're best ability is availability. 1 1 Quote

Warriorspikes51 Posted September 19 Posted September 19 I'm willing to pretend the one shank didn't happen. He's been ice on everything else and I feel confident when he lines up. I cringe when Bass does Quote

Rochesterfan Posted September 19 Posted September 19 Why is this even a thing? The Bills have the ability to control this however they want. They control when Bass comes off IR and can resume practice. This doesn’t need to be anything as Sal stated earlier - let Prater kick and things pan out - if you need Bass you can bring him back - if Prater is doing fine you can keep Bass on IR. If they decide to activate Bass - you can put Prater on the PS and bring him back if needed. Whatever happens they have options and the ability to control the roll out and how it all plays out. 1 Quote
The Jokeman Posted September 19 Posted September 19 I keep Bass in the shelf until Prater proves to be a liability. 1 Quote
Matt_In_NH Posted September 19 Posted September 19 There is a chance Bass stays on IR all year 1 Quote
