I don’t think that’s the case either.

Kirk has a no trade clause, and basically no market via trade. They are almost certainly gonna cut bait with him next year.  This may be their only chance to get ANYTHING for him.

Oh I totally get not doing it if the Bengals think rolling with Browning is better. And I think there’s an argument that is in fact the case.

i just think this is the EXACT scenario Atlanta (and Kirk) was hoping for. A medium term injury to a team with playoff expectations who may need a desperate QB trade. Kirk gets his money upfront and a chance to play for another payday, Atlanta gets a pick for a dude who is a guaranteed cut next offseason.

Agreed- this is what Atlanta has been waiting for.  Sucks for them that cincis backup has shown he can win games and be competitive.

Sucks for the Bengals.  At least Browning has shown to be capable to keep them competitive, but he's no Joe.

As for the Bills angle (because this is a Bills board)....I don't think this helps us.  The AFC North was supposed to be a gauntlet and now it looks as easy as the AFC East to be honest.  Cleveland is lousy, Pittsburgh is about the same level as the Jets at best...and Cincinnati is now less of a threat offensively and have a nothing special on defense.  We thought the Bengals would threaten Baltimore and win a game or maybe two from them.  Now Baltimore will probably go 6-0 in division.

Yes but we have the head to head victory over Baltimore....absolutely huge

Yep. It is good we have the tie breaker with Baltimore because they have a far easier path to 12-5/13-4 now which probably takes the 1 seed at this moment.

I commented on another thread that Burrow is trending towards Rob Johnson with better QB skills but similar availability issues. I think the Bengals must be very very worried right now to see his continuing issues. If this dude's problems continue to challenge the Bengals chances for the post season, what do they do going forward? They have sunk a lot of money on a few positions and may again have squat to show for it this season. Browning is decent as a backup , but he can't survive the rigors of playing good defenses who will gameplay against him.

The Bengals have 44% of their cap going to 3 players on the team, all on one side of the ball and two at the same position.

Burrow has now what, 4th major injury out of the last 5 seasons?

IMO, you prioritize protecting your QB first, weapons second.

Burrow is a good enough QB that if he was adequately protected, would still be a superstar.  He needed protection more than Higgins IMO.

Burrow: "OK, Mr. Brown, I will be going off on rehab now for this toe."

Mike Brown: "Nonsense.  You can report to the team offices for 'light duty'.  I'll have a janitor's cart set up for you.  Afternoons, you can chauffeur me to business meetings."

Baltimore tough games remaining: Detroit, GB, Rams, Minnesota (If McCarthy plays better), KC, Houston?

Bills: Texans, KC, Bucs, Texans, Eagles, and NE will probably give us a fight in one of the two games.

Chiefs (0-2): Chargers, Denverx2, Texans, Ravens, Lions, Commanders. Idk about the Raiders. Maybe they are improved?

KC has the tougher games remaining. But they have the experience and success despite an 0-2 start. Which isn't good. But not a death sentence.

Baltimore will be favored in all of their games except maybe GB. Bills will be favored in every game sans Eagles maybe. Problem with the Eagles game is they will probably have 15-20 k fans there. Travel well.

But a great team always drops a game they shouldn't. For us,I think that might be NE this year. But things can change. Injuries and teams getting better or getting worse as the season progresses.

Anti-Beane Crowd: The Bengals give Burrow more resources than the Bills give Allen

Non Hate Beane Crowd: Well Burrow since 2020 has had a torn PCL/MCL/ACL, dislocated pinky finger, serious calf strain, torn wrist ligament and torn ligaments in his toe...that's 3 major surgeries in 5 years.  They don't protect him and he's taking a beating.

Anti-Beane Crowd: Yeah I know, Beane just makes it hard on Allen.  I wish we built like the Bengals.

The Bengals have botched things. A good OL is more important than an elite receiver. If the QB is always rushed, it won't make a difference if your receivers are prime Moss and Rice. I also think they cheap out on coaching and do the bare minimum. But I'm not shedding tears for Burrow. He decided to get paid and stay.

But...Burrow does not live to play another down enough. He won't throw it away and has had injury issues since college. Him and the Bengals are married to one another. So they need to get it right.

Rob Johnson was never actually good, though. He was a bad player with physical talent. Burrow has had three MVP-level seasons in six years.

I think Cousins would be almost as good as Burrow himself.

I mean…what does it say when Jake Browning can step in and look pretty damn good? Cincy is so loaded on offense, and you have to wonder how much Burrow is benefiting from that.

He looked pretty good against the Jags. What's going to happen when he faces Minnesota, Baltimore twice, Denver, Detroit, GB, AZ, and Pittsburgh twice?

Ravens always lose a few games they shouldn't to bad teams.

I for one, am hoping for a QB controversy
