PoundingDog Posted September 10 Posted September 10 I admit Ed Oliver is growing on me. Not eloquent, but direct and authentic. The answer on his maturity is unusal but does give you the simple straight thinking he has on the subject. And I do like his view on facing the Jets running attack this week: a second shot at it. 8 1 2 Quote

I've been on the Ed Oliver train since his Junior year at Houston. I was thrilled when he fell to us at 9. One of of my favorite Bills. Hope he's a Bill until he retires. 2 2 Quote

Don Otreply Posted September 11 Posted September 11 Ed doesn’t talk sh-t, he goes out and does the best he can each game, the point he made about having children & that they force you to grow up fast says a lot about the man. 5 Quote

Sounds like that's exactly what happened, Ed was feeling it so he kept cooking. I think rotation by default with wiggle room for when a guy is "on" is the best of both worlds, no? 2 Quote

I mean, it's not like being on the Ed Oliver train at that point is some sort of bragging right or required an extraordinary following of College Football or of Ed himself. He was on the cover of Sports Illustrated and considered perhaps the best player in all of College Football going into that year. Edited September 11 by BillsFanForever19 5 Quote

He may be finally reaching his potential. He's been better in his career than some give him credit for but his potential has always been to be a poor man's Aaron Donald. He's never been that. Even in those two big Thanksgiving games he had you couldn't say he was the difference in the game. Sunday night he was. They were hanging on for dear life defensively and those TFL's, the sack and the forced fumble made it just possible for the offense work the body on the Ravens and then turn the tables in the 4th. If that becomes an every week thing he could become that difference maker they've lacked and really elevate the Bills roster a notch. I'm not holding my breath on that until he strings a long stretch of great play together and manages to stay healthy......but I think we are seeing some players reach the intersection of know how and can do. Even Josh Allen looks significantly more in command of the game than a year ago this time. 9 2 Quote

Kwai San Posted September 11 Posted September 11 (edited) Big Ed.....I am on board. One game doesn't create a monster though. Lets see it week in and week out. I am ALL over that crap if he does it!! GO BILLS! Go Ed! Edited September 11 by Kwai San Quote

Fun to watch him playing like a man possessed. Keep it up sir. We need the DL to finally take off. Quote
AlCowlingsTaxiService Posted September 11 Posted September 11 I’m hopeful that this was the kind of game that really flips the switch on Oliver’s career …. I need to see him sustain high level play, rather than become the invisible man for long stretches during a season, as has happened in the past Quote
HOUSE Posted September 11 Posted September 11 I was hoping to buy his house and a few horses by he looks safe for another year. Quote

Somehow you were able to hack into the system and supersede my post so that you could take credit for my idea. I've already notified @Simon... you can expect to be hearing from him. For shame... it would be deserving for you to be afflicted with poor spleenal health. 2 Quote

Something like the starting 4 played almost 68% of the snaps. This does jive with what McD did in Carolina. They had a rotation there as well... until they finally found a solid starting 4 and then the rotation dropped to almost nothing, just giving the big guys breathers. Between adding Bosa, and Rousseau developing, and Ed playing well, and Jones being good enough with those other 3... would be nice if we found some consistency while the youngsters learn and develop. 12 hours ago, PoundingDog said: I admit Ed Oliver is growing on me. They do change you (in my experience, in the best ways). 1 Quote
