Game Week thread - Bills at Jets

I would like to see the percentage of passing plays in the 1st half increase a bit. Not entirely, but enough to get all of our pass catchers rolling early. Winning like we did against the Ravens definitely isn't sustainable.

 

On defense, I would hope, to see more 3rd down stops happen. It was a problem last year and still is. A few things need to happen to right the ship.

I think them not having Saleh and Ulbrich coaching the defense is huge as well. For as much of a goofball he was as a HC, Saleh is a very good defensive coach. 

 

Glenn doesn't scare me as a defensive mind.

Always a concern to play the Jets away in recent years. Three straight years and three straight funky knuckleball type games. Close wins in 2022 and 2024 and a close loss in 2023. I think this game won't be much different. Jets defense while it laid an egg against the Steelers I don't think is that bad and always seems to play tough at home against the Bills. The Jets offense is capable, their offensive line is very good, their RB Duo is talented, Fields is not the most dynamic thrower but he's not terrible and can run well, and Wilson is a dynamic outside weapon. I think we are gonna see just how good this defense is or isn't after this game. If they can control the line against a good Jets O-line that's a good sign. Offense wise the Bills  need to be more consistent and keep the defense off the field. I got it Bills 27-17 but it might be a late field goal that pushes the game to two scores...

I think this is going to be a hard fought game. No doubt the Bills are the better team. 

 

Will the Bills have a letdown after that big win? I doubt it.

 

The Jets offense looked very good vs Pitt. Fields presents a challenge with his legs and actually threw the ball well. Hall is a home run threat and Wilson is very good. I think the Jets offense will be successful vs the work in progress Bills defense. 

 

On offense the Bills should be fine. An old Rodgers and limited offense in Pittsburgh rolled the Jets D. The Bills offense should click for lots of points.

I'm betting on the Bills fans in attendance will have a wonderful time.

Jets are like the Great Value brand of Raven football. I expect the Bills defense...who actually played well late in the Ravens game, to be fine tuned and ready to easily shut down the Jet offense. 

 

And while Allen does seem to get bottled up by the Jet defense...we all saw his stats against the Ravens in last year's. Yet he went off for almost 400 passing yards and is likely to win OPOW honors. I see him having some success against the Jet defense. But now that defense  doesn't have CJ Mosley. No DJ Reed. Heck they gave up 4 TD passes to Aaron Rodgers and he's 127 years old. Josh should eat well Sunday.

I think NYJ has a better DL than BAL and that worries me a quite a bit.

 Between the two teams, I think the Jets have the best player in Williams. But I think the Ravens have a deeper set of players. 

 

Either way, I expect the Bills OLine will hold their own just fine.

I think the defense looks lot better this week. I expect them to try and confuse Fields with a lot of disguised coverage. 

 

In particular I think Bernard and Milano will look like the high quality starters we've come to expect. It should be easier without having to keep tabs on three very credible rushing threats.

 

My prediction: 31-17 Bills.

Fair for DT. I think NYJ edge are a bit better (including depth) than BAL. Hope they can hold up. Q Will has wrecked things for us before and that’s my fear. Torrence seems to be our equalizer for him.

As tough as the Ravens game was, it might be a good prep for the Jets.  Fields is a good runner but not quite Jackson, Hall and Allen are good but not Henry level.  Their OL ain't the Ravens IMO.  If the Bills defense can get the Jets to 3rd and long and then not surrender long runs by Fields, we should be ok.  

 

I think our offense will be fine against almost any team, including the Jets.

And please no more running into the LOS 3X and punt.  Less behind the LOS passing would be nice as well

I just don't know what the Bills would have to do to keep the Nervous Nellies from Nervous Nelly-ing.

 

I understand you should have a fair amount of respect for any opponent, but its only Tuesday and people are already hand-wringing over the Jets DL or running game?? 

 

I know division games are always a little closer than they should be, but if you think there is any less than an 80% chance the Bills win this game, then you are just a professional worrier.
