That being said in the Allen era I've never felt more comfortable watching a kicker line up than I was with him tonight. That last kick I actually was extremely confident it was going through. With Bass I would have been waiting for it to hook wide right. I appreciate Bass' ability to hit the occasional 60 yarder but that is a rarely needed skill. Give me the guy that hits 100% of the <45 yarders and 90% of the 50 yarders. That's the more consistently important skill. I didn't worry about him on the game winner. The hold? Yeah. I was concerned. But on a running clock to win a bananas game like that, to not worry about the kicker was a cool thing - 2 Quote

I remember years ago he was very good from 50+ Prater hit from 57 last year before getting hurt, 62 the year before. I think it's fair to assume that his range is a bit dimished at 41 years old, but I wouldn't have any concerns about sending him out there for anything up to that 57. With the new kickoff rules, teams should be willing to sacrifice a little leg strength for a little more accuracy too. 2 Quote
DC Greg Posted September 8 Posted September 8 Remember when Beane paid Bass a bag for no reason? Lol Quote

Nelius Posted September 8 Posted September 8 I think people are possibly overrating the 41 year old decline for kickers. Kicking isn’t agility and speed. I don’t think the same aging applies. An extra few lbs that comes with aging could even help, see Sebastian Janikowski. 1 Quote
SectionC3 Posted September 8 Posted September 8 Just watched the reply. Deon Walker is the luckiest dude in Buffalo tonight. Woof. They gotta coach him up if he's going to stay on the FG team. Quote

It was essentially a free rusher, and he knew it too. He should have blocked it. Edited September 8 by NickelCity Quote

Bass can stay on it and come back if something happens to Prater knock on wood No. There’s only so many IR placements that are designated/eligible-to-return. Eight for the whole season. An additional two for the playoffs. Edited September 8 by UConn James Quote

PetermansRedemption Posted September 8 Posted September 8 If Prater continues to kick like this, you have to cut Bass. Quote

Bass attempts that game winning kick and it gets blocked. Everything comes off his foot weird and no doubt would've hit the Ravens player in the helmet 1 1 Quote
DCofNC Posted September 8 Posted September 8 Prater has been good for a loooooong time, no reason to expect less from him. Bass needs to be replaced, this may be the guy for this year. He’s also 41, so that is going to be a factor in all of it, Bass should be the long term guy, but I’m sure the team knows he’s just not the guy they hoped he was. Quote
SoonerBillsFan Posted September 8 Posted September 8 I was going to ask last night, anyone else just felt relaxed when Prater kicked, I mean xp's as well? 6 hours ago, The Frankish Reich said: Prater hit from 57 last year before getting hurt, 62 the year before. Is he the player who allowed Hamilton to walk thru, come within a few inches of blocking the kick, and almost ruin one of the greatest comebacks in Bills history? 1 Quote
