13-year vets who are former All-Pros don't sign contracts with former teams to be on the practice squad all year and mentor younger players. If this was the intention, it would be unprecedented.

Just wondering how many nfl vets you’ve spoken to about this?  It’s a nice paycheck. He went from making $0 to $21k a week to do what he loves with people that he loves.  Wake up

Clearly he doesn’t have any teams who are willing to give him a roster spot, I’m guessing multiple teams have said you can be on the PS. This lets him stay in shape and let him come back to a place he knows

Hold on.  He isnt All Pro anymore, but he is an upgrade over Hamlin if schemed a similar way.  Hamlin isnt doing anything exotic in coverage.  Poyer is more physical, more instinctive.  I think he still has more juice than Hamlin.  Now you cant use him like we used to but protect him a bit with scheme and I think he is a solid depth player.

They just started allowing vets to be on the practice squad a few years ago. Also they pretty much doubled the amount of players allowed.  Years ago they’d just be out of the league

Isn't this very similar to what Micah did last year.

The only difference so far is the timing.

Just wondering if you can name a former All-Pro veteran who signed a contract at the end of his career with the intention to be on the practice squad all season.

Hyde essentially only did it for the playoff run.

This is the Bills admitting the secondary is in serious trouble right now

This is exactly what this is to me... Poyer looked cooked... but then again, Hamlin and Bishop combined for some really burnt toast ... this is insurance... and could it be that his ceiling is literally no worse than Hamlin right now?

It's really not that different than the players that transition into coaching.
