There are some great takes in here.  🤣

Poyer has been a great signing.  Most everyone in this thread took an L.

People scoffed at Shaq and JP too.  All 3 out there making plays.

The haters love to cry about Samuel, Palmer, elam, Landon Jackson etc, so I figure I give some props to Beane and McD for these 3 under the radar signings that have all had a positive impact on our team.

Looks like I didn’t comment at the time when they signed Poyer  … probably just as well as it wouldn’t have been complimentary..,,

Has been way better than I thought he would he … and they have needed him this season …

I’ve always liked Jordan Phillips to be honest … I was happy to have him back again … Shaq Lawson not so much but they are desperate there

Signed guys who know the system and were cap friendly.  I will be honest, I did not expect much from Poyer and had some resentment for the cheap shot last year.  I feel he’s played well, but more importantly I feel he has helped Bishop become a NFL Safety.

I also always liked Phillips. Solid player, solid dude.

It would be interesting to see what the true stats are on Beane’s draft history. He has had some hits and some misses with the many draft picks he’s had. Thing is, to have that many swings means he’s doing something right. You don’t get to draft that many players if you’re truly a bad GM. Which he’s not.

Tre is holding his own as well, Thank God!

The Tre hate is unreal. Like it's not actually based on anybody who watching coverages.

He's been a decent CB2 on the outside this season.

Tre, Poyer and Phillips all stepping it up late in the season. Grizzled vets and all-time Bills.

Surprised Shaq Lawson wasn't out there yesterday.

I think Sean wanted to test his new toy first in Morgan Fox. I can't say recall him playing much unless was more on ST.

Fox had 11 defensive snaps. Zero STs snaps. Groot and AJE handled most of the game.

poyer was playing with some fire yesterday.  These vets are the bridge to the next generation and the 11 defensive players beane will draft next year

He's holding his opponents a lot more than his own.

Fox had 11 snaps. I did not notice him at all.

I loved JoPo. I do think he is likely done. But I think our safety room is trash. Wouldn't shock me if he ended up on the field at some point.

Well he did end up on the field, our safety room was trash... but JoPo has had enough left to be an upgrade and as I keep saying... no coincidence Bishop's light came on the moment Poyer got on the field next to him. He is getting by with what is between his ears and underneath his ribs. The body may fail. But the brain and the heart are undefeated.

Absolute Bills legend. Put him on the wall.

Tre has been okay. Passable. He has played at the level the likes of Dane and Levi have given us in the past at that spot. He has been more expensive than those two though. And that is a fair point. But he has not been a liability as you would think reading this board.

He did against Pitt, but without having looked at anything other than live, I came away thinking he was getting picked on 2nd most after Cam Lewis yesterday.  Seemed like he was on Tee a lot yesterday though, and thats a bear of a matchup for anyone.  Cant really remember as much in the few weeks previous to Pitt game though.... I def remember him looking rough early quarter of season, weeks 5-9'ish are a bit cloudier.  Would be great news if the reason Im not remembering is just a Corner doing his job!!

Shaq Thompson - LB'er.  Whos been lights out as of late!  I doubt Lawson is on a roster, but not on ours

[Edit: I stand corrected it appears? Shaq Lawson is on our roster? LOL mustve happened over the holiday and I missed it]

I continue to be completely unperturbed about the safety position. Hopefully Bishop will rise to the occasion so that 2nd round pick won't have been a total waste. If not and Hamlin or Poyer need to fill in, so be it. They'll both hit their landmarks and we'll just have to scheme around their athletic limitations. It's not fatal. I actually think Poyer might be a better option than Hamlin if push comes to shove.

The DL just has to be much better this year. And we need average play from our CB2. And we need the play calling to be better. If all of those things happen no one is going to care about starting one replacement level player at safety.

I feel like I was right not to be overly concerned about the safety position when everyone else was panicking. Well I'll admit Rapp was much worse than I expected. I don't know if it was the injury or what but he went from being a decent player to an outright liability. My whole thing all along was I didn't need a superstar at the position, just no liabilities. Once Rapp was removed and we inserted a replacement level player in Poyer the whole machine clicked into place. Obviously big credit to Bishop as well who has elevated his game well beyond what I expected based on his early season play.

💯 my thoughts exactly.

i figured we’d be getting the 2024 version of Rapp.  McD alluded to him being injured all season, not sure if he’s just covering for the guy or what, but he was abysmal this season and sinking the ship.  Poyer was just what this defense needed.  Theres still plenty of time for him to get exposed, but he’s been solid.

One guy says "cooked" on Page 1...all the sheep follow in order.  I have read "he's cooked" 20+ times in this thread.

The more you say it doesn't make it so.

Great signing.

Hmmm. Bahhhhh.  Bahhhhh.

“Cooked”. “Toast”. Bunch of JV talent evaluators round these parts.

Shaq Lawson is back on our roster as per your edit  …signed him a couple of weeks ago …it was widely discussed here at the time …probably even more negatively than Jordan Poyer in this thread
