That's my guess as well. Teams can only add 2 players to IR on cutdown day. We used our spots on Grable and Hairston. Adding Hancock today and using his spot on another safety who plays special teams makes the most sense.

I'm fine with Franklin on the PS.  I don't know much about him, but his special teams value and run defense seem to be worthy of a PS designation.

I asked AI, how many players will play for the Panthers at some point in their careers, given that players bounce around a lot.  AI (Copilot) estimated that it was about 10-15%.
