It's true, Beane's track record of sacrificing draft choices to move up for the "can't miss prospect" is pretty bad (except Josh).

What makes it worse, is that he's really hit on some mid-round guys. Maybe if you don't give up those picks to move up we'd have more talent

I don't know if Beane is a 'draft wizard', or akin to Jack, who traded the family cow for some magic beans. 🤔

Beane does a fantastic job in the later rounds. He obviously has an eye for NFL talent. I think he gets a bit lost sometimes in the earlier rounds, but I will also say that his 2nd round picks, seem to be improving. Cook, Cybo, Bishop (lets hope).

 

His first 3 2nd round selections. Were Cody Ford, AJE, and Boogie Basham. AJE and Cody Ford are both playing like day 3 picks, and Boogie has no business being in the NFL.

Absolutely horrible 2nd round pick. Beane’s misses in the first 2 rounds over the years are the difference between continually falling short (to the Chiefs every year 🤬) and getting over the hump. Shows you how good Josh is to have overcome this level of incompetence at the top of the draft to even give us a chance year over year. And I say all this liking Beane as the GM. But sometimes you’ve got to call a spade a spade. Hasn’t been good enough.

You know now that I think about it, when your last name is Basham when the nick name they come up with you as someone who plays such a violent position as DE is Boogie it's probably not a great sign.

Honestly, I thought he had already hung up his cleats before last season.

 

Grrreat name though, one of the best ever.  He should sell it to a good defensive lineman now, one who can both move and bash: Boogie Basham

 

Our own Esmeralda needs  a new name,  as his is much too difficult to pronounce, causing me to rename him myself anyway.  So maybe him?  Could add years to his career, as he is at least competent.

 

All kinds of possibilities with that name! Just not with the player.

 

And I will do some basham myself if Beane brings him back.

I understand it. Bills were desperate for a pass rush. Now it’s 2025 and we are still in the same spot hence why Beane went D-Line for picks 2,3, and 4.

or we could have drafted Josh Myers (drafted 1 pick before Creed) who was 46th ranked Center last season according to PFF or even WR Amari Rodgers (drafted 4 picks before Nico) who was playing in the UFL. It's fun to play what if but sometimes the what if isn't always better.

I could.  Two lottery tickets double your chance of winning, and we really needed to find someone to pressure the pocket.

 

I just couldn't understand Basham.  He seemed more like an edge-setter type than a bend-around-the-tackle-and-knock-the-QB-on-his-ass type.
