if Gabe is brought back,  its because nobody has shown they can block in the run game like Hollins did last season.  Gabe did it before he chased his bag so i have zero issue with this with one caveat,  if Gabe isnt physically able to do that dirty work anymore,  then we dont need him.  he will be cheap though if signed.  people are assuming this is about catching passes.  its not.  its run blocking and special teams.

yeah 'this isn't madden' is always the cerebral response lol foh

as for gabe davis...here's a simple image for you bwfRzy.jpg

I see you're struggling with comprehension of an extremely simple concept. Go on and list the stats of other WRs available right now. Or is it your contention that our WR room is currently optimized?

my contention is that Gabe Davis is not how you optimize your wr room

We can’t expect Allen to be the league MVP every year with a lesser cast than his peers have though.

He might be able to do it.. I think Allen is the best player in the NFL.  But it’s not a fair ask.

He started the year breaking his hand because he had to do too much and finished the year being let down by his supporting cast, again.. as Kincaid dropped a catchable pass.

Curtis Samuel was a signing that was universally questioned by Bills fans due to his injury history and, what a shock.. he’s always injured.   Elijah Moore got 2.5M fully guaranteed because we didn’t draft a viable WR.

Now, here we are, on August 19th with our HC saying we have 3 WR’s and then who knows.  Gabe Davis back in the building for a workout.

I like our Top 3 if what is being said about Keon plays out in the season, but if we cut Samuel/Moore, that’s money lit on fire because of his inability to stock the cupboard at WR.

Josh has had a lesser cast since 2018.  The offensive help that never came was wasted on failed defensive picks.  This organization has had opportunities to trade up for quality wrs and has chosen not to.  Shakir is our only reliable wr.  We honestly don't know what we have in Coleman or Palmer?  Samuel & Moore look like bust signings. And now we're considering Gabe which just reeks of desperation. The old expression "there's no-one to blame but yourself" definitely applies here to OBD.

Then they should have brought Hollins back and not signed Moore.

This. Last couple years - They are spending $24M ($8M per) on Samuel, threw $3.5M away on MVS and Claypool (after throwing $ away on Harty the year before), spending $10M per on Palmer, possibly throwing $2.5M away on Moore, with likely more $ to come on guys like Davis or whoever they sign. They draft only a 7th round throw away pick on WR this year. Last year they trade back and end up taking only 1 WR in one of the best WR drafts in a long time. Its been miss after miss after miss. Shakir is really the bright spot. Even going back further and looking at Kincaid was supposed to be.

I guess you could think of him as Mack Hollins before there was Mack Hollins. In that light, I don't think it's a terrible idea if they don't like what they're seeing from the guys they have today. Now can they get him for Mack Hollins money? At this point, probably.

I have zero issue with bringing Gabe back in a depth role.  However, the guy only caught 51% of his targets over his career in Buffalo.  He is an upgrade over Samuel and Moore at this point and we know he can get down field and block.  Having him at WR 4 is fine.  How cheap will he sign as the Bills have zero cap space?

By the way, Samuel's cap hit if cut is $12 million.  If he is gifted a roster spot his cap hit in only $9.  Maybe there is some way to do an injury settlement and get rid of his negative cap hit.  Moore cost 2.5 to keep or let go.

I just hope this isn’t another season where by Week 4, we’re celebrating one of our WRs getting more than a half yard of separation on a play here and there.

😨

better prepare yourselves, it's the least impressive group of WR in the AFC, at least.

Amen! Beane has done a lot of things well to include getting good O line depth but man the FO needs to stop getting cute at WR. Draft is cheap on a position that costs so much after the first contract. And like you said there are too many misses on players the rest of the league deemed not worth the money

I agree....its a foolish and careless strategy in dealing with maybe the most important room (wr) on the team outside of qb. We've wasted millions on wrs who we either can't develop or have no clue how to use.  I like Shavers but is this kid ever going to get a chance?....if not than put him out of his misery and cut him.  The money we wasted on Samuel/ Moore/Claypool etc, we could've just kept Hollins.  I have no faith anymore in the wr decisions made by leadership. It's gotten comical.

It's like he has a superpower where he becomes unstoppable, but only in January (and hopefully February too).

No, he doesnt. He had TWO good games in the postseason out of 7 he played in. The last game he was 2/34 (Cincy).

I know...but he blocked so well....

Gabe is what we all want: another guy who shows up for the playoffs.

Aside from that one outlier game vs teh Chiefs, his playoff averages are as follows:

4 Targets per game

2.3 catches per game

45 yards per game

0.3 TDs per game
