You play tight man all game long you can fake cover zero or single high and drop into zone on critical downs.  You play soft zone all the time and then go man on critical downs you better have some damn good man corners or you get burnt.  The other thing is you can see how handsy the refs are letting the defense play.  Teams frequently get very grabby with our guys and we let guys run free for easy quick passes all game long.  Once upon a time our soft zone was a small cushion and a big hit but now a days our soft zone is 5 or 6 yards and more missed tackles after that.

Even the Bears 3rd string QB can throw over the middle.  Our backups QBs really struggle with that.

We are not covering the middle at all and the Bears just keep going there. We have been in run-for-the-bus mode most of the game.

Holy crap man how is James Cook not a star player!?  He was tied for the most rushing touchdowns in the NFL last year.   Is Dion Dawkins not elite?  Does he not help Josh?   How about Christian Benford?   You guys just blindly say things without any facts.

The only starters they added are Bosa and TreyWhite (who has looked shaky). You see the depth tonight. No changes in staff or philosophy. Where is the improvement going to come from?

You can't it looks like the same old same old weak scheme no gap penetration, no pass rush soft coverage by calling minus dbs small line backers who get run over and a DL that is just the little bitc# of anyone that lines up in front of them why babich is here is beyond me I never thought I would long for Leslie Frasier but man ...

I just told you where they made changes and within those changes/ additions they have two new coaches teaching different technique.  Playing more man to man in the secondary was the biggest talking point of the defense for months.

 

They also hired a very good special teams coach.
