PoundingDog Posted August 14 Posted August 14 (edited) When Josh broke out 2020 season, the 1st window for superbowl opened. OBD went ahead added Von to their core players of Allen, Diggs, Knox, Dawkins, Morse, Oliver, Milano, White, Hyde, and Poyer. 3 seasons, 21-23, some bad luck like injuries, inexperience, and aging of a lot of the core guy proved to be not quite good enough. 2024 was supposed to be a reset and reloading year. Almost all of the aging core guys were let go. But Allen took a step ahead into an MVP. As such OBD is setting up the 2nd window for superbowl, identifying and signing up the new core guys. Allen, Oliver, Dawkins, Knox remained; Bernard, Brown, Shakir, Rousseau, Benford and now Cook are given extension to be the new core guys. They really need a few more to step up like Kincaid and Coleman, plus a few defensive side rookies to pan out in the next 3 years, starting from the 2025 campaign. NFL windows are short. 3 years from now, if they don’t get it, a number of these core guys will be out of the door and a new reset is in the order to clear the book. Let’s hope from the coaching stuff to the core guys left from the first window got hardened enough to gives us better results in January. Edited August 14 by PoundingDog 8 4 1 4 Quote

It's all one window, a window that is open from 2020 till Josh gets too old. You say, "NFL windows are short," and that's nonsense. Some NFL windows last a year. Some are short. Some are a bit longer and some are damn long. The Pats window lasted like 16 or 17 years. The Chiefs six years so far. Ours has a long way to go. 1 3 1 1 Quote
TheBrownBear Posted August 14 Posted August 14 It's our time in the AFC. I expect to see one of either us or the Ravens in the Super Bowl this year against the Lions, Commanders or Eagles. Quote
Chandler#81 Posted August 14 Posted August 14 Speaking just as a Florida resident, we never have open windows. It’s either damp & cold or treacherously hot. Car roof openings & convertibles are worthless here. Oh! THAT window. nevermind.. 6 Quote

He may evolve into more of a pocket passer the later in his career, but he’s steadily ascended for the last 7 years, and he’s started more games basically double of every other starting QB. 1 Quote

I agree that I think it will be someone other than KC in the Superbowl from the AFC this year. For both Buffalo and Baltimore it really has to be them. They have been the two teams vying for that #1 contender status consistently and yet the one other time in the past six seasons that it was someone other than KC it was the Bengals who sort of came from nowhere and have not as consistently contended. There is pressure on both the Bills and the Ravens this year to get it done. And if it is not KC but also neither of them then pressure will rachet up on both staffs IMO. 2 5 Quote

Samee goes for the window being closed, ours was closed for a 17 year drought, but as long as we have 17 out there it's wide open Quote

Gregg Posted August 14 Posted August 14 I have the Ravens vs Lions in the Super Bowl. I hope I am wrong about my AFC pick but I think the Ravens have one of the best rosters in the league and they will prove to be the best team in the AFC. 1 Quote
17islongenough Posted August 14 Posted August 14 The window won't close until Josh Allen retires Quote
zow2 Posted August 14 Posted August 14 We have one of the greatest QBs in NFL history here and a solid coaching staff and culture. It all comes down to winning a SB or at least making a SB appearance during their "Windows". If that doesn't happen, this will go down as a gigantic sports tragedy for the Bills organization, the city and us. 2 Quote
Florida Bills Fanatic Posted August 14 Posted August 14 Injuries play such a big part in team failures, it's hard to predict who will succeed in any season. What we can say at this point is that the Bills roster on paper is as good or better than it has been at any point in the Brandon Beane era. Baltimore also has a roster that can be the best that they have been in years. IMHO the Chefs can't say the same thing, although they will still be very good. It's going to be a very interesting season in the AFC. 2 Quote

The Bills have to get the #1 seed and stay healthy...If last years AFCC was played in Buffalo, the Bills win it easily. This year the AFC West is likely to be strong with some great coaches and above average QBs. This is our golden opportunity 1 Quote
