machine gun kelly Posted August 13 Posted August 13 I guess the COOK really is in the kitchen. Â Sounds like a fair deal for both sides and more than enough time to get in game shape. Quote

MasterStrategist Posted August 13 Posted August 13 This deal came in exactly as expected - $12m per.  It was all about the guaranteed money, as I said earlier this offseason.  Great deal for both sides, Cook is still an ascending player.   Just wait until Gibbs and Bijan get their bag next year, this will look like a steal for us. 1 6 Quote

I'm not good with understanding these things Beane cooked this off season, Josh, Groot, Benford, Shakir , Benard, Cook  Draft, develop, re sign baby .. Sends a great message to our young guys too that we'll take care of you if you produce I agree. One of the best run organizations in football. Considering what we dealt with 2000-2016 this is such a a great ride for me as a fan 1 4 Quote
BarleyNY Posted August 13 Posted August 13 Glad it’s done. I thought it likely a deal was already finalized when I saw that Cook came back to practice. Not pleased that his hold in worked, but that’s life in the NFL. I will hold off on judging the contract until I see the details. Quote

mannc Posted August 13 Posted August 13 Cook is the same age that OJ Simpson was entering the 1972 season, the start of a five-year run of the greatest RB play in NFL history.  Cook’s not too old, and he’s a very low mileage RB with no serious injury history. 4 1 Quote
MJS Posted August 13 Posted August 13 Good to get it done, and he is about where he should be. Maybe a tad bit more, but that's fine. He is an important part of the offense. Quote

No more Jones after this year, maybe no more White or Jackson, no more Esmeralda (depending on how he plays), no more....  Means $$$$$$$$  If more than that come through, well, the sky is the limit for what the Bills will be able to do.  I believe this is what they are counting on, and will use this money to then help the offense, first and foremost locking up O-line players in one of the best lines in the NFL.   Assuming that the information on this link is up to date, the Bills are last with meeting the salary cap (currently $600k over). 2026 - $4.5m over.  https://overthecap.com/salary-cap-space  Something to keep in mind. Steptide Posted August 13 Posted August 13 Glad this whole debacle is over. Litterally all I've heard about for 6 months on local talk radio is cook. Really glad this is over and done with 1 2 1 Quote

I just think he was being cautious to not get any injuries before the deal got done. 2 1 Quote
gjv Posted August 13 Posted August 13 Based on the guaranteed amount in this agreement, and not knowing the specifics of the contract, it appears to me to be a 7.5 mil/yr deal with incentives. RunTheBall Posted August 13 Posted August 13 After the Williams deal it was just a matter of time before this got done. 12 mil AAV with 30 guaranteed is fair to both parties. Cook may not be valued that high by other teams but as important as he is to our offense, an extra million a year is peanuts considering how much the cap goes up every year. 1 1 Quote
