Knox has a 17 mill cap hit. They aren’t going to stay at that number. Knox is getting released or taking a big pay cut. Like in the 6-7 million range or we save 9 on cutting him. Samuel is not going to be here next year and that’s another 6.5. That’s 13 million without any restructures or other cuts etc. There is money for McGovern if they want to get it done. It’s Edwards who I think is gone but one of the 2 will be back next year One thing I’ve learned about Beane is don’t bet against him. So if he can get a deal done with McGovern, it wouldn’t surprise me. The salary cap keeps going up so there’s another place for potential cash. I think Edwards is gone next year. Quote
Coffeesforclosers Posted August 13 Posted August 13 Outstanding news. Now give him 20+ runs a game in the playoffs. 2 Quote

If Kincaid rebounds to his rookie year form the team will have gotten two plug and play starters on the offense in Torrence and Kincaid and a starter on defense in Williams possibly. That’s 3 starters out of a draft that didn’t have a ton of capital. I agree that if Kincaid is a bust then it’s a lackluster draft class but not a tragic one. I don’t think Kincaid can be considered a starter. He’s our TE2, which is a role player/back up in this offense. Doesn’t mean that isn’t important, but he has a ways to go to supplant Knox as TE1. 1 1 Quote
Taro Nimbus Posted August 13 Posted August 13 After reading all the comments on social media..I thought for sure we should cut the diva because he’s a diva and a huge distraction to the team..🙄😂 Quote

hondo in seattle Posted August 13 Posted August 13 Cook isn't a top 5 back in the league. He's not a top 5 back in Bills history. But I think about this like cooking. The recipe calls for a particular ingredient. That ingredient isn't particularly rare or exotic. But the dish doesn't work as well without it. Cook is that ingredient. He works better in this O than Singletary or Moss, for example, and he'd be hard to replace. 1 Quote

Edwards and Torrence are the two based on historical philosophy that are going to be replaced. Good news is the Bills look like they have some young capable lineman to fill in the gaps or the draft capital to add to the interior OL in the next couple of drafts as long as it isnt insane money... Torrence to me has to be a priority... he is always available, rookie starter, I think with an upside... to me O Line continuity is big... and I honestly dont think what it would take to sign them would be prohibitive... Maine-iac Posted August 13 Posted August 13 Just because there has been a trend of not paying RB's big money that doesn't mean every back isn't getting paid and it doesn't mean it'll stay that way forever. Beane's deals frequently look really good two years down the road and when some top backs are signing deals for 20 million a year I'm hoping Cook's deal looks like a bargain. Quote

My post was more about the whole draft class for the entire NFL. It had a reputation as a poor class and seemingly has lived up to that. 1 Quote

For that reason, Brandt says Bills had to extend Cook because he’s the one guy who’s stepped up for him when it matters. The set of points Brandt makes here are absolutely spot on. Now we just need to see if the D and special teams can pick it up when the games count. 1 Quote
Miyagi-Do Karate Posted August 13 Posted August 13 We had to do this and it was reasonable given the current market rate. But I still don’t love paying a RB big money, especially one that is on the field 45% of the time. Quote

The ONLY squabble I have with Cook's usage is wondering why he wasn't on the field for the final drive of the AFCCG. Otherwise, they've used him brilliantly. 1 Quote

I agree....Torrence isn't going anywhere. He and McGovern will get extended, but Edwards will probably be the odd man out.....luckily for the Bills, they have a lot of young O-line talent waiting in the wings if contracts can't be worked out. Otherwise, they've used him brilliantly. This has been said many times... 1) hr is noy our best 3rd down or receiving back. 2) his blocking isnt good and he didn't do well blocking on the last drive. This is why I would have hold off paying him to see if those aspects improved this year. But they signed him and iy is what it is. Quote
