Tough break, in more ways than one.

Quote

The Titans announced that they have waived Burks on Monday. Burks was waived with an injury designation as the result of a fractured collarbone he suffered in practice this weekend. He will revert to injured reserve if he clears waivers and will likely be released with an injury settlement at some point.

Surprised he was as big a bust as he was.

I doubt he ever catches on with a team long enough to play meaningful snaps again.

Tough business.

Yeah. I thought for sure he could have at least carved out a role similar to the one Gabe Davis had here, but the guy just underwhelmed at every turn. He also hasn't been able to stay healthy. He could still have a Hollins type of career if he's willing to do what it takes to make a roster, i.e. Special Teams.

Definitely a tough business.  Only 25 years old and his career looks bleak now....at just 25.

Imagine trading AJ Brown and ending up with that for your pick 🤢🤢

Hopefully not the last time we see Vrabel shaking his head at his own teams trade!!

Ladies and Gentlemen. Mike Vrabel.

The draft footage suggested he was dead against this tbf

Sorta doubt that. Burks was supposed to replace AJ Brown. Vrabel didn't want anything to do with that trade. Like others have mentioned, being that injury prone will probably keep him from a contract with any team

Goes to show you the draft is not an exact science.

Not saying you are wrong, but how do you know that Vrabel wanted to trade AJ Brown?

Usually that is from front office due to salary cap implications

One of the most lopsided trades in recent memory.  This guy was traded for AJ Brown. Eagles won the Super Bowl, Titans fired Vrabel and picked first overall

Well to be fair, had they kept AJ it would have done nothing for them.  So at least sucking more to where it eventually got them a #1 overall pick a couple years later to draft a QB is better for their prospects moving forward than paying AJ Brown a ton of money to play on a crap team and maybe win a game or two more where they don't get the #1 pick.

Trading AJ was still the right move for them.  Its pointless to have a top end WR if your QB sucks, so you sure shouldn't be paying one and maybe doing just enough better to further hurt your chances to get a high enough pick to go after your QB of the future.

Which is why I think it was a mistake for the Jets to pay Wilson.  I think he is a top tier talent, but they are not winning anything with Fields.  I would have cleaned house, moved Wilson and Sauce for a bounty of picks, not signed fields, and just sucked my way to the top pick next year and look to rebuild their franchise with the top pick in the draft and a bounty of other picks the next year or two.

All the Jets have done is insure they are not going to be good enough to do anything important and not bad enough to land an elite QB prospect.  That is football purgatory, and Titans were smart enough to recognize that and avoid the mistakes teams like the Jets make over and over again.

Sometimes you trade an AJ Brown and end up with a Treylon Burks.
Other times you trade a Stefan Diggs and end up with a Justin Jefferson.

You just never know.

Or Kelvin Sheppard for Jerry Hughes...

Burkes is not all that dissimilar to AJ Brown. Both guys had a decent number of missed games and injuries their first three years— Brown,

though, stayed on the field a bit more.

i am guessing someone takes a flyer on Burkes. Maybe he can get healthy and turn things around.
