OMG everyone over reacts about this with Cook. Remember... it is OPTIONAL

What are you talking about? No one has overreacted. We’ve finally reached a point where we aren’t overreacting to this stuff. The Cook thing is a non-story and no one on TBD has made it a story. That’s progress

I'll take that blanket conclusion over your stone faced "not enough information, wait and see" act based upon his long and storied history when it comes to injuries and games missed.

This is the story of OTAs (not Cook). Hopefully it’s precautionary. They need Bosa at the end of the year, not the beginning (even with the suspensions). Get him healthy if that’s possible.

Thats really it. The whole thing.

I read online that Philly stopped KC on their first 9 possessions in the SB.  We stopped KC on 9 possessions in our 4 playoff losses to them.  Combined.

If we can find a way to get a couple of more "posession stops" in the AFCCG or SB, with our offense we will be the champs.  Thats where Bosa comes in...a big sack or a couple pressures will help stop a possession.  Enables our offense to build a 2-3 score lead that we cant blow in 13 seconds.

I get this is TSW, so TSW is gonna full on TSW every chance it can add to the theatre of dramatics and negativity...

...but come one...its a pulled calf...hardly concerning.  Its better to just be cautious and keep him out, its not a serious injury, on its own.  Its just OTA's too

Its May...long time until January.

Now back to your regularly scheduled program of beating the dead horse on receivers...lol

I figured the board would take this news well and have a nice, rational, adult discussion about it.

Looking forward to all 22 pages of this thread.

Looking forward to the "just get healthy for January & February" takes...while ignoring Bosa's track record.

I think the real story is that the injury happened in non-contact activity in which you might expect the immediate prognosis to be "inactive for a couple of days". But, when they ominously state "out for the foreseeable springtime...",  you have to believe bringing him to Buffalo was overly optimistic.  Doesn't seem he'll be someone the Bills can count on this season. What's the over-under on games played?

You kind of raise the question that disappointingly, not a single poster has asked yet... when did the injury occur?

Also related to that, how did the injury occur?

This is from PFT:

"Head coach Sean McDermott told reporters on Tuesday that Bosa is dealing with a calf injury. McDermott said that the veteran will likely be out until training camp as a result of the problem."

For context, mandatory minicamp is from June 10-12th... it starts 2 weeks from today.

Training Camp starts on July 24th... 58 days (8 weeks + 2 days) from now.

Assuming Bosa passed a physical before signing, was he injured while preparing for OTAs or was it after arriving at the facilities?

There's a range on what his physical status actually is... one can argue that this is precautionary but without more information it can also be argued that this is a fairly significant injury.

Let's be honest, even the front office didn't expect Bosa to be 100%.

That's why you draft a Landon Jackson.

The Hoecht suspension isn't helping right now.

To the bolded, it's easy to say that.

It's another thing to believe it.

He passed a physical before he signed, no?

I think ignoring Bosa's track record with regard to this injury would be silly.

I also think over-reacting to a strained calf in May is silly.

A reasonable take would probably look like something like "this injury news is not ideal, given Bosa's injury history, but the coaches say he should be ready for training camp, so it's not the end of the world that some will make it out to be".

Unfortunately, this forum often doesn't do "nuance" very well.

If we cut him now we save $520k this year and $5.4m next year.

At this point a Bosa injury is as surprising as an adult film actor telling you they have an STD

That actually would be very surprising.  The industry has rigorous standards around testing and ensuring the safety of their actors.  Also, what the f@#$ are they telling me for?  I work in financial services, what do you want me to do about it? And there's no chance that I asked. None.

I'm pretty sure they actually get really tested for that stuff if you're a"pro"

You're probably way more likely to get it from a woman at the bar

McDermott said he injured it end of last week.

Bruce played more regular season games his last two seasons in Buffalo (31) than Bosa has in his last three (28).

Bruce hardly ever missed regular season games, while Bosa has missed a lot of regular season games.

Not defending Bosa, but Bruce is one of the two best DE's of all time. Being able to escape the injury bug during that time is why he is the game's all time sack leader.

This is what steroids do to your body over time, makes one brittle, it’s the price athletes pay for the good years,

I'll bet it's their use of weights. Football players seem to get a lot of hamstring pulls. Does anyone remember a basketball player getting a hammie ?
