WhitewalkerInPhilly Posted Sunday at 09:23 PM Posted Sunday at 09:23 PM Those who did should have nothing to be ashamed of. I wouldn't have made it through the Drought without the memory of the Kelly era 1 Quote
Dave in Avon Lake now Posted Monday at 01:47 AM Posted Monday at 01:47 AM I’ve been a Bills fan since the 70s but really jumped on Board after I moved to Buffalo when Chuck Knox became the coach. Mondays were Bills game recaps with coworkers. Left town in 1983, but kept my allegiance in the dark years until Kelly arrived. 90s were great years to be a fan, but the drought was what really tested my allegiance. We kept finding ways to lose especially to the Pats. Glad we’re back on top now. Just hope we see a Super Bowl victory before I’m gone. Quote

Same bloody thing, Cowboys & Oilers for my older bro and Dad. But not me. I became a Bills fan in 1990. I was never a Cowboys or Oilers fan. Orange, TX for me. 1 Quote
Pete Posted Monday at 11:02 AM Posted Monday at 11:02 AM Last night I met my Father in Connecticut for dinner at a nice place, I had Bills hat on. A younger waiter walked by our table, and said "Go Bills!". I asked if they were from Buffalo. "Im a Josh Allen fan! He's incredible. I love the Bills because Josh Allen" When I left- he yelled "Go Bills!" I yelled back "Go Bills!" Quote

MiltonWaddams Posted Monday at 02:06 PM Posted Monday at 02:06 PM I would admit it if I did become a fan because of Josh, but I became a fan because of my dad. He went to games with his buddies when I was a kid and I would watch them to see if I could see them on tv. Never did…but it proved to be a gateway drug. If the 4 losses and the damned drought didn’t stop me, nothing will. Fan since ‘88 and fan forever. Quote
RichStadiumGuy Posted Monday at 02:26 PM Posted Monday at 02:26 PM I've been around long enough to clearly remember Dad dragging my Radio Flyer into the Rockpile with a keg of beer in it. We always sat in the corner of the endzone nearest to the main gate and I usually got to ride back to the car in the wagon with the keg... which was MUCH lighter going out than it was coming in :) 1 Quote
BillsFooteball Posted Monday at 11:15 PM Posted Monday at 11:15 PM Did not miss a snap during entire drought years. Will be the best when they hoist the Lombardi!! Quote
Scott7975 Posted Monday at 11:47 PM Posted Monday at 11:47 PM Joe Ferguson was the QB of the Bills when my parents took me to my first game. I've been a Bills fan that long and that has never changed. Quote

Ive been on the boards long enough to know many here are long and knowledgeable fans. Ditto the passion the fanbase still had in the drought. But I do have a friend for example from Wyoming who started liking the Bills because of Josh. I think that’s a legit reason 🙂 I’m sure there are some out of market fans who will admit to this. Between Canada, WNY and CNY there’s always been a lot of support for the Bills so while fans might not have followed much pre-Allen, I’m guessing they liked the team. But I do think that Josh is very much responsible for making a lot of casual fans watch the games and pay attention to the Bills more closely 1 Quote
T master Posted yesterday at 11:54 AM Posted yesterday at 11:54 AM I've been a fan since for those of us that can remember this saying "Miami's got the oranges but we got the Juice" , not exactly sure the year that that saying came about but it wasn't long after the Bills got OJ and I've been hooked ever since . There have been a lot of band wagon Bills fans that have come and gone and there are other teams that I have liked from a distance but Bills blue will always run in my veins a tried and true Bills fan to the bitter end . I know there have been the band wagon Bills fans that can't remember "Wide Right" or the "Music city Mystical/Miracle" but I can understand why they would want to jump on the Bills train now it is some of the best football I've seen in my lifetime of being a Bills fan and in some respects better than the 90's I just will cherish the time when Josh and company bring home the trophy to put out all of the demons of the past !! GO BILLS !!! Quote
JP51 Posted yesterday at 01:17 PM Posted yesterday at 01:17 PM I became a Bills fan during the Dennis Shaw era... I still have a little kids standing Buffalo helmet with a 16 painted on the back. Quote
Udubalum07 Posted yesterday at 01:24 PM Posted yesterday at 01:24 PM Josh Allen actually brought me back to watching the NFL. I will probably be named for this, but I grew up a dolphins fan watching Marino. I was following college mostly, and watched Josh a lot at Wyoming, my alma mater. Watched some of his games as a rookie, and have become a full on bills fan. I live in Nebraska and have gone to a couple of games in KC. Want to get out to Buffalo sometime, but with 3 kids in elementary school and costs with that, traveling is tough right now. 1 Quote
vin5000 Posted yesterday at 02:12 PM Posted yesterday at 02:12 PM I'm from Nebraska and grew up a huge College Football fan and a more casual NFL fan. I never had a specific NFL team that I followed, but I generally had a handful of teams I rooted for and a handful of teams I didn't like. I have two boys that started to take an interest in the NFL over the past 4-5 years. At that same time, everyone around here was becoming chiefs fans. I thought I would choose a different team to follow and try to influence them to follow the same team as me... kind of a father/son thing to share together. I always had a soft spot for the Bills seeing them get so close in the 90's. They've always been in that handful of teams I want to see win. So I didn't switch my allegiance from another team, but I decided in the offseason after the 13 second game, that I was going to become a Bills fan. By the 2022-23 season, my oldest son was on board. It took until the last offseason for my other son to come around. This past season was the first season we all shared rooting for the Bills together. They're 11 and 8. Quote

Bill from NYC Posted yesterday at 04:12 PM Posted yesterday at 04:12 PM I'm thinking that a majority of our posters were Bills Fans before Josh was born, which is kinda scary in some way. 1 Quote

When the Giants played the Bills last year or two years ago it seemed Von Miller was the only Bill alive during Super Bowl 25. Yeah it appears you are right…. For the most part I’m pretty liberal when it comes to sports rooting interests, I mean it’s the less serious part of your life. Or supposed to be. LOL 1 Quote

I had a poster of Jim Kelly before Josh was born. But I had never watched a game (not just a Bills game, ANY NFL game). Don't know if that puts me in this category or not 😄 Edited 22 hours ago by GunnerBill 1 Quote
TheBrownBear Posted 22 hours ago Posted 22 hours ago I wish it were that easy. I've been a Bills fan since '83 (or really since birth) when my father picked me up from daycare and couldn't find a sitter for me (Mom worked nights), so he left a note for my mom and dragged me to a Monday night game against the Jets (yes, you can bet my dad was in the doghouse with Mom when we got home). I don't remember much from the game (I know we got killed and it broke some sort of record for fights and arrests) except for walking through the section tunnel and seeing the bright green field under the lights - it felt like magic! Turned out to be the first of probably 75-85 games I attended over the next 12 years. 1 minute ago, GunnerBill said: I had a poster of Jim Kelly before Josh was born.
