Will anyone admit to becoming a Bills fan during the Josh Allen era?

Sorry, I've been watching since before Kelly.  Only games I have missed watching were when they had the rare blackout and those I listened to on the radio.

 

Last time I missed a Bills game, I couldn't tell you when.

I became a Bills fan on January 28th, 1969.  Part of being a Bills fan is embracing and navigating the heartbreak, with the spectacular moments.  That's why once Josh leads us to our first Lombardi,  it will make everything worth it.  And to those that jumped on the JA17/ Bills bandwagon in 2018, enjoy this legendary ride. You may not see it again in a lifetime.

Me too.  I was a Cleveland Browns fan before OJ.  I wasn't real serious though.  I remember LeRoy Kelly was their running back, and not a lot else.

Me, personally, I've been a Bills fan since before Josh was born.   My first memory is of Mini Max Anderson reputedly swallowing his tongue.

 

But two or three years ago, I met some bandwagoners.  They had gone to school, and were friends, with Josh's mom.  Said the entire family was very nice - good people.  They became Bills fans when Josh was drafted.  Can't blame them.

As for the Bills, I grew up in Rochester during the era of black-and-white TV on 3 stations.  All we HAD was the Bills.  When I think of OJ running through the snow, it was mostly from the crappy reception on the TV set.

as a son of immigrants, football wasn't a thing in my house. i kind of started watching in 1990 at 8 years old and figuring out the game, and the only season i couldn't bring myself to watch any was 2001. my fandom actually inspired my parents to start watching and loving them.

I’m from Mississippi and back in the early 90’s they played the cowboys, 49ers , and bills on tv… my brother in-law was from Dallas so I know that was a no go. My best friend was a 49er fan , so here I am.

I wasn't diehard until the Kelly era, but I remember OJ smashing a snow ball into the TV camera lens on Thanksgiving day when I was a teenager.

Josh Allen is the epitome of the Clint Eastwood, Stallone unstoppable force Everyman hero, dressed in a Bills uniform. From the time he hurdled that LB against  Minnesota.Every fan who endured 3 decades of substandard QB play and seasons ending in the middle of November, saw this young mega talent as the savior of family’s hopes and dreams for the next 10 to 15 years. Sure enough he delivered.

Full disclosure I was a Cowboys fan until 1986 when at eight years old my neighbor convinced me to start watching Buffalo. Rest in peace Shawn ❤️ even though you cost me two Super Bowl beatings I wouldn’t trade that decision for the world. I absolutely love the Buffalo Bills.

Yeah I agree… if you’re visiting this board daily year round and posting, you’re definitely dealing with a sickness level of fandom that most average fans would deem obsessive.

So you weren't a loyal follower of the Buffalo All-Americans back in the 1920s or the Buffalo Bisons back in the '40s.  

 

In other words, just another trend-hopping, clout-chasing, fair-weather Johnny-come-lately.

As a kid, I had two great idols that I loved: OJ Simpson and Bill Cosby...which tells you how long I've been a Bills fan.  Also an interesting fact about me, while I love Josh Allen and he SEEMS like a great guy, I just don't idolize or even trust that I know celebrities.  Not sure why.

I look back with quite a lot of nostalgia now at the drought. An era when every regular season win felt like a massive achievement. Especially if we beat anyone half decent. Now the regular season games often feel very routine and I kinda miss that jeopardy. 

 

Having a great team with a superstar Quarterback is definitely better, don't get me wrong.

Ah, the yearly offseason “how we became fans” thread. I, like a lot of you I suspect, became a Bills fans when my father (RIP) hung a Bills and Sabres pennant above my crib in January, 1974. The two teams are all that ties me to my hometown. Strangely, both of my kids are Bills fans even though they grew up in Cincinnati.
