If it's not a distraction why does the NFL have to force a team to be on it?

Because a coach like McDermott convinces himself that it is a distraction. But he's wrong.

Yes, if no team volunteers, the NFL will pick a team. There were some rules before regarding teams that made the previous playoffs cant be forced, but I think those have changed. They havent needed to get that far much because typically if no one else wants to, Jerry Jones volunteers the Cowboys because it keeps his brand growing.

To answer @Doc Brown's question. There are lots of reasons besides it being a distraction. More so along the lines of exposing coaching/staff and decisions. See: Joe Schoen and the Barkley saga last year, that is why they killed the Offseason version. Most of these teams like to run a tight-knit, closed door operation. Doesnt mean it's a distraction to the players/coaches.

If they are still going by the rules for teams being put on Hard Knocks (tho it's possible they quietly lifted those), it would imply the Bills wanted to do this.

And I could def see a scenario where the Owners would want to even if McDermott isn't a fan. Hard Knocks has featured teams who are moving into new stadiums before. Def possible Pegula wants to raise the profile of the team even more on a National level to get people in the building and/or take a check from Warner Brothers for some extra cash to put towards the bill.

If the Owners want it, Warner, and Goodell want it - it really wouldn't matter what McDermott thought.

re-signed... unless Cook is resigning from his position... which I guess isn't out of the realm of possibility

Might be a leap but I think we all knew what he was talking about

So stoked!  Especially with how good Embedded always is

Embedded is what the Bills want you to see (for instance, I'm convinced some of their draft references are towards other players they didn't get).  Hard knocks doesn;t have the Bills "filter"

Hate it.  Major distraction in a critical season.  Just going to have to trust that McDermott can get them through it without major downside.

Out of the 19 teams who participated in the series:

9 had winning records the following season, with all but two making the playoffs.

10 had losing records, with half of those teams losing double-digit games.

3 had winning records after having a record below .500 the year prior.

2 had losing records after having a winning record the year prior.

How is it not the Browns? That was the right choice and the easy choice

The only person who would have given a #### enough to watch is Mel Kiper. Browns fans don't even like their team anymore.

True.  All coaches are like that though so I don't think it's "nothing."  It will be cool to see some Bills content though.

Oh boy.

What will the "hook" be, the struggling WRs room?  Will James Cook be resigned?

Well at least it will be entertaining.

My 1st thought was they are coming to see our WR competition 🤣

I don't think its that big of a distraction. These are highly paid professional athletes who are constantly under a microscope anyway. The only thing I wouldn't want is for the Ravens to watch it and figure something out week one. But I'm fairly confident the Bills will be controlling the content heavily

Unless you use it to plant false flags...  3-D chess..

Interesting. So they DID revise the rules.

The Bills became eligible for selection in the docuseries under revised rules this offseason.

I kind of figured that was the case with them doing multiple last year with the Bears in Training Camp and the Ravens in the Playoffs. And it may have been a scenario where they wanted to avoid being the Playoffs team this year.

I still say that the Bills may not have had to have their arm twisted too much to do it this season. Maybe McDermott, but I could def see a scenario where Pegula would want that paycheck and more eyes on the team nationally as they build the new stadium.
