Gabe is a great 3rd receiver. He just isn't a #2.

Eh, if your slot is your number 1 target, and your TEs and RBs are heavily involved in the passing game, do both of the outside receivers need to be in the top 3 in target share?

Im not advocating for Gabe, I like him, clearly better than most Bills fans but I’d take him in a heartbeat to be a back up outside WR, and possible replacement for Coleman or Palmer if they aren’t cutting it as our top 2 outside threats.

Good on him for earning a second contract

So his 4 TD playoff game was just luck?

Kinda.

2 of those TD’s the CB basically fell over or got lost. And the Chiefs we’re down to their backups.

Wasn’t Gabe thought of as an elite blocker at WR?  Seems like he’d be a perfect replacement for Mack Hollins.

That said, if the plan is for Keon to be primarily outside, opposite Palmer, I’m not sure Gabe would want to come back and compete with Moore for the backup snaps.

11 Personnel looks with Gabe and Palmer outside and Keon in the slot is definitely intriguing to me though.

He is if you want a Mack Hollins replacement.....I think we want more than that.

Garbage take....there is a large spectrum of NFL talent at any position.....yes he is not at the top and never will be bt that does not make him "not an NFL talent"

29 TDs (another 6 in the playoffs), across 5 seasons is pretty good.  From his draft class thats more than anyone other than Jefferson, Lamb, and higgins.  More than Aiyuk, more than Pittman, more than jeudy.

Not consistent enough to start? Makes sense. Not an NFL talent? I don't agree. He is a good blocker and capable of big plays. Someone like that could help as a #3 or #4 option on plenty of teams.

i mean this has already kind of been proven, hasn't it...the jags just decided he couldn't play that role adequately

Gabe's mamma was mad that we booed him for drops. He's not coming back here.

The is no roster spot for him.  Who do you cut?  Keon, Shakir, and Palmer are locked in.  Samuel would cost cap space to cut, and we need more speed not less speed.  And Moore has been a star of camp.  The only way they keep 6 WRs is if the 6th guy is a dedicated kick returner, and neither of those 5 are and neither is Gabe.  So Gabe has to replace one of those 5, and coming off injury after a career here where Allen has a lot of picks trying to connect with him, would disappear a lot, dropped passes, had mental lapses, and had a limited route tree.

I really cant see Gabe ending up here without someone in those top 5 getting hurt.  We have a lot more guys to carry this year in places like secondary and DL this year, we likely won't be keeping a 6th WR who isn't a return specialist.

Yea.. it would be more of an idea if we found a trade partner for Samuel, but I think our front office and coaching staff really, really want Samuel to be a thing.

I also don't think we should trade away speed for the sake of a redundant tool set he brings (Keon and Palmer).  But hey, if there is an injury, he makes a lot of sense.

Yet when we're playing backups all over the defense it's not an excuse why we lose.. but Gabe goes up against a backup safety and backup corner and the Chiefs have excuses?

We were way more banged up last year than the Chiefs ever were when we played them lol

We were playing kaiir Elam for goodness sake! mike Hughes and the other guys they were trotting out are better than Elam lol

So why are you making excuses for why the Chiefs got torch by Gabe.. but you don't take injuries as a valid reason when seven starters were really banged up and a few of them didn't play

Benford and rapp were our two best secondary players all year... And we had a host of people scrambling to barely play... And we barely lost

One guy fell over because Davis faked him out of his jock.

There is a reason why Gabe never did that again.

There is a reason why the Bills didn’t re-sign him.

There is a reason why the Jags cut him after 1  year.

That playoff game was a F-L-U-K-E.

I certainly never said Gabe Davis was amazing

He's a guy better for 3-4 role who occasionally can take advantage of some matchups.. a deep threat without a second gear and a decent sideline toe tapper but he's always banged up

So he realistically has value of a fourth wide receiver and the jags were paying him like a number two

Well said.

Gabe Davis' ceiling is maybe 10% higher than Keon Coleman's floor. Davis is a WR4 / fringe WR3 talent who can get hot but is ultimately unreliable. I wouldn't swap him out for any of our top 5 WRs. Honestly I wouldn't even want him on the practice squad over KJ Hamler.

Good on him for fleecing the Jags but he's mostly a product of the Josh Allen effect.
