It’ll be interesting if Buffalo gets the following draft. Competing with the previous years draft at our nations capital and all that comes with that.

Are the selected players going to run through the reflecting pool to get to the podium like in Forrest Gump? 😳

Unless they we shot in "The Buttocks" LOL ...

I hope Buffalo eventually gets one. As someone who was born on LI and grew up in NJ, I don't know the Buffalo area all that well where could they hold it. Does Buffalo or anyplace near place near Buffalo have the space where they could hold the event with so many people showing up. At least Buffalo is in line for another Winter Classic. Bettman already said so once the Bills new stadium is ready to host events.

It would be cool to showcase Buffalo and WNY for the draft, but with the volume of attendees today, the lack of local accommodations makes it impractical.

It's funny how not too many years ago the NFL draft was just another day at the office, held during the work week with most fans catching up on the picks in the local newspaper or watching the local evening sports news with Rick Azar, et al.

Then, ESPN started televising the draft picks in real time. (desperate for content)

Eventually, it turned into a minor event with draftnik attendees getting a seat in a ballroom in New York.

A lot of whiney, disappointed meathead Jet fans in attendance almost made it worthwhile.

Now, it's a huge deal, with thousands gathered to patiently hear their team make it's choices or watch their favorite player get picked.

This is a great example of how people can be manipulated by hype. A non-event has become must-see event and a hot ticket for some.

It's cool that these folks, (mostly a younger partying crowd), enjoy the event.

Personally, I can't imagine standing there, surrounded by a mass of boisterous fans for hours, waiting for one NFL prospect to be revealed.

Last year when the Bills traded out of the first round, I have to think there were Buffalo fans who stood there all day eagerly anticipating the Bills' pick, only to go home or back to their hotel with nothing to show for it but a pair of aching feet and a sweaty tee-shirt.

Yes, the NFL is the master of hype. Now, the schedule is the next 'big' (non) event.  Can't wait. 😃

They need to come up with something to keep fans engaged in June.🙄

Nice here in the DMV that time of year.  Spring has sprung by then.   Big lift for DC, that many people coming in.  Should be fun.

In all honesty, we all know that the weather in WNY in mid April is mainly dreadful.  To have a big open air event at that time would invite comparisons to the Blizzard of '77.   Please don't.

The Bills are finally lifting the areas rep , let's not trash it again with a rain soaked, 50 deg 3 day outdoor event.  Just sayin

I've thought the same.  The weather in Buffalo in April sucks.  So much chilly rain flows across Lake Erie, it will be 75 and Sunny in DC and 48 and rainy in WNY on the same day.  I personally don't think every city in the NFL "deserves" the draft.  Green Bay looked nothing special to me,,  they set up a stage in a parking lot, whooopeee.  Keep it in the big cities.

My sister lives in Wisconsin and knows someone who paid $30 for a hot dog and a beer and $120 to park. You don’t think we should share that experience?

Nashville and some other spots looked cool, with a lot of things around to do besides the draft. Green Bay seemed to offer a big parking lot. I politely passed on the offer to visit.

It’s as big draw and people spend money.

However, you are correct, April in Buffalo tends to suck.

Apparently the only cities to bid for the 2027 draft were Washington DC and Denver.   So I'm not really sure what the appetite is for NFL teams/cities to host this event?

I suspect that by 2030,  Buffalo will want to host the draft with the new stadium being the centerpiece.  Being a longtime member of the league, the NFL will throw them a bone.

I agree, I think with a new stadium Buffalo can have the draft if the want it...  but what does want it mean... do you have enough hotel rooms... I dont think at this point OP allows hotels... that might need to change, what are your contingencies for weather, how have you developed the land around the stadium... I dont think the NFL is like yeah, we will come and throw it in Drive 5 on the gravel with a stage etc...  so I absolutely think we get one.. if we want, we just have to be prepared to "Host" one...

For those saying that Buffalo doesn't have the hotels or whatnot to accommodate that many people, have you been to Green Bay?  Buffalo's population is over double of Green Bay.

I haven't heard any horror stories (yet) about Green Bay, and I assume that Buffalo is more so now interested BECAUSE Green Bay was able to pull it off.

Starlight Motel on the Boulevard in Wheatfield can probably squeeze in 4 guests per room if it comes down to it…
