was just going to say this, he's not old and he seems to want a ring more than more money. Might be back 3-4 years.

From what I've read, he and fiance enjoy "the small town life".  Happy spouse, happy house

I guess dad was right this time, huh?

As I and others said, Landon Jackson was a developmental player.  He had and still has alot of limitations to his game, which gave pause to alot of posters who didnt see a player that was able to win at rushing the passer with his current repotoire of moves.

I see this as a redshirt season for him- not sure he brings any value to the return games/Solomon is better there, and overall at DE rn.  Hoecht comes back, it makes it even easier to see Landon getting very few snaps.

Tired of these "developmental" players,

SB caliber team, we need impact now, with that being said, it'd be nice to see a Keon, Bishop, Carter , Solomon develop into an impact player in year 2

What does Jackson do well?  I believe he was a consensus day 2 pick so you know there's talent.

He's not bendy and a speed guy so he is that guy that needs to be a great hand fighter?

He is the classic high motor marginal talent white defensive end. I think its a rule for the franchise to have at least one per season.

He's the complement to Bosa just as Ryan Denney was to Aaron Schobel.

Wouldn’t be the end of his career but it would be disappointing if it was a redshirt year for Jackson, because with Bosa and Epenesa presumably out next year that makes DE an urgent draft need for 2026 unless Hoecht is a stud. I was hoping Jackson would show enough this year to be considered for a starting job in 2026, and then you don’t feel like you have to use a premium asset on depth/competition for him

DE, S and WR all needs yet again for next season!

I like that we take swings on these guys. Jackson has a lot of tools and might be quality starter one day. That’s a really good outcome for 3rd round.

What does a more game ready rookie with more limited upside actually do for us?

Plus, taking raw, toolsy players like Jackson, Walker, Bernard, Bishop, Keon, etc., and making them wait allows the team to maintain their “everything earned” stance and have it be legit. That’s an important part of winning culture in pretty much everything let alone football.

Pass rushers don't grow on trees. If they think they can develop a 3rd round pick into an above average starter, then I don't think it's a bad pick. If they were for some reason hoping he'd be a contributor year 1 then they whiffed hard.

If they get him on the field and he can hold his own year one ? I am calling that a win on a day two pick.

I like the kid btw

Too soon to know for sure on any of these groups. I would argue linebacker will likely be a bigger need if Milano leaves. Even if Dorian William can start that leave Buffalo Joe as the only other guy.

If Coleman stays healthy and is more consistent this year our top 3 at WR will be set next year. If shavers can be a a decent number 4/5 we might be looking for a number 4/5 in the middle rounds.

This organization has spent the last 3 decades trying to recapture the magic of Phil Hansen

It's obvious that was not their plan. They brought in Bosa, re-signed Rousseau, and kept Epenesa. Jackson is supposed to develop for the future.

Don't forget about Michael Hoecht just bc he's Suspended the first 6 games.

We signed him to a 3 year contract and he's looked very impressive in Camp and the Pre-Season.
