I agree with your assumption, but regardless of fake tweets, it would be hilarious if NE cut him. Breer seems to think it's a possibility.

The fact Vrabel made his statement and Stef has been silent should tell us all there's more there than we know. What a complete stupid thing to do.

No.  The Chiefs moved on from Tyreek Hill at the right time.  The Bills had to eat $31m just to not have him play here.

I think Beane’s thought process here was that if he paid Stefon Diggs big money he would simmer down and be a team player. Unfortunately he did not..

I know it looks bad that Beane ate $31M in dead cap, but Stefon Diggs pre-injury was a premium player. Had he played in Buffalo last year (hypothetically speaking), he could of easily had 100+ catches and 1,500+ yards. He was a hell of a player, (we’ll have to wait and see how he does in New England this year..)

I’m just glad that Beane was able to get a RD2 pick out of him, which essentially turned into TJ Sanders at #41. We can’t close the book on this trade yet until we see how he pans out.

I completely agree.  Beane trading for Diggs was his 2nd best move outside of drafting Josh Allen.  He put up the four most productive season ever by a Bills WR.  Getting a 2nd rounder for him was also a steal.  Yeah, Beane made a mistake extending him but nobody criticized the move at the time.  Their was always a walking on eggshells feeling with Diggs because of the way he forced his way out of Minnesota.  Now we know why.

It would be kinda nice if Diggs drags down NE for a few years forcing them to miss on draft picks and make cap casualty decisions.  He continues to be a douche and puts up mediocre stats while being a media nightmare.

One can only hope

Still a Chooch,

Just stopped by to say, I named the cat who decided he lived here as soon as I moved into my new apartment over 5 years ago.  I found out his given name was Napoleon, which really isn't half bad. But I had already dubbed him The Chooch. Why? Because he's a freaking chooch, that's why.

Should I change it to Diggs?  Hmmmm🤔

When I saw “Diggs’ Drama” I thought this thread would be about the insightful posters who called for the cancer to be released or traded after the 2023 season and the snarky posters rolling their eyes and saying it was unwise or cap impossible.

That is 100% fair.  The reason people were so snarky was the idea that Brandon Beane of all people would be willing to eat the most dead cap ever ($31m) for a position that wasn't a QB during the prime of Josh's career was just highly unlikely.  Especially when your only good WR besides Diggs was Shakir.  Beane ripping the band aid off was shocking to me and a lot of us had to eat crow because of it.  I underrated the toxicity of the situation when in retrospect I shouldn't have.  People like Stephen A Smith were mocked on here but he turned out being right.  I learned my lesson when it comes to looking too much at the cap ramifications and not enough about the locker room dynamic of a team.

I never thought it was impossible for us to cut Diggs like some fans argued, but I at least understood that viewpoint. What I didn't understand was the fans who acted like there was nothing wrong with Diggs. A lot of people buried their heads in the sand. The constant whiny tweets, the offseason podcasts where he openly criticized the  team, the reports of him falling out with Allen, him going AWOL from mandatory minicamp. Even after all that there were a lot of fans saying it was just "Diggs being Diggs" and that the media was creating a controversy out of nothing. Now with each passing story since we traded him we find out he was even more toxic than the media made him out to be. When people tell you who they are, believe them, even if they happen to play for your favorite team.

I'm a fan and I wanted to believe that our second-best offensive player was going to continue playing for our team. So yes, I did bury my head in the sand. My head is currently buried in 10 feet of sand about the issues surrounding James Cook, but at least I'm self-aware.

Would the better move have been to draft Justin Jefferson with that pick and created arguably one of the Legendary QB/WR1 pairs in history with JA 17 and JJ 18. Looking back is always what coulda shoulda.

You're the GM and you have a QB that is still very raw and not even in the top half of the league yet.  You go get him that true #1 WR in the middle of his prime.  Beane didn't have the benefit of hindsight.  You don't wait until the draft and hope you get lucky.  No offense, but this is the absolute dumbest takes on this board that's been made repeatedly since the trade.
