If all the STH and any others surveyed about a new stadium had demanded a dome, a dome would have been built.

“I would say the other part is the way we envisioned the stadium being designed, with (approximately) 80% of the seats covered, is very much in line with what our fans said in our surveys: that they didn’t mind the cold, they just didn’t want to be wet.

Re-reading that, yeah, a dome was never happening. I think the NFL/Owners most likely made it clear to The Pegulas that there will be no dome, or they heavily influenced them. The NFL wants the Buffalo snow games with the crazy shirtless fans in the stands.

Which is kind of dumb, realistically the only way you're not getting wet is with a dome.

Here is the best thing with new new stadium if you are on the leading edge of the open seats it will be a river of water coming done on you FYI the Phil game 2 years ago No one will want to be in those rows.  And when the snow dumps off from the wind people will be faltened

for a bazillion dollars you'd think they'd have drainage and snow melting capabilities to avoid all that.

That isn’t accurate according to the new stadium show the Buffalo Bills did for YouTube Terry Pegula was quoted that the NFL owners questioned another open air stadium in Buffalo in league meetings? So it wasn’t the NFL owners this is what Terry Pegula wanted and some of the Bills season ticket holders wanted. It also helped it was the cheapest option. I don’t see Buffalo ever building another football only stadium ever again after this stadium with the way the general public feels about enriching billionaire sports owners this is it. The new stadium will be one of the best future CFL stadiums because that is where Buffalo is heading. You don’t need a dome when the CFL season ends at Thanksgiving which is weather wise more conducive to Western New York weather and wallet. Most likely the Casino will own the team or the Jacobs family or someone completely new on the scene in Western New York in the future. When this new Bills stadium ages out along with Terry Pegula I don’t see the Buffalo Bills staying in Buffalo anymore? Unless Western New York goes through a economic boom which I don’t see happening population is actually leaving New York State. The new open air stadium will fine for our Buffalo Wings the 10th franchise in the CFL. I am sure some Bills fans will be bitter but overtime time heels and you go to what you have in town. It will be like the Buffalo Bandits NLL lacrosse rivalries with Toronto, Hamilton, Montreal and Ottawa.
 

Orchard Park location works well for the stadium because the land has no value if the stadium was in the downtown core you would risk losing the new stadium to land developers in the future. Nothing is ever happening in Orchard Park so when the new Bills stadium is 30 years old it will still be productive as a CFL stadium/concert venue. Just telling it like it is with our economics. The Buffalo Bills can win 7 Super Bowls with Josh Allen and it’s not stopping the shortcomings of Western New York economically plus factoring in so many cities want NFL franchises. If Western New York couldn’t afford a dome now it won’t be any better 30 years from now. Hope I am wrong but I am 56 years old so in 30 years it won’t affect me as a Bills fan enjoy the next 30 years it will be our last years in the NFL. But at the end of day so what the CFL is a good fun football league which is what sports are all about fun in my opinion. Go Bills! Let’s Go Buffalo

I just find it very difficult to believe that these small roof sections are keeping anything other than a very small portion of fans consistently dry.

They're just trying to appease the whiners. Everyone knows that mostly BS. It's an open football stadium the way God intended. Deal with it...or just stay home

I have a serious question.  The new field is supposed to be grass. Fine. I get that you can heat it and have grow lights and all that to keep it alive.  When we get a storm like this, how are they supposed to clear the field and the stadium without destroying the field?  In the current stadium they can drive large equipment right onto the field.  With grass, which would be soaked by melting snow if the ground were heated, it would be far too soft to do that.  I realize other grass fields can get snow but they don't get typically 2-3'+ of snow in a single storm in Philly or Pittsburgh or Green Bay or Baltimore or Washington.  Cleveland could I guess, but nobody accused Cleveland's field of being good in the winter either.

No field is perfect.  Show me a player who doesn’t prefer to play on grass.

 

Soccer is the biggest sport in the world, and they manage to play all of their matches.  Europe gets extreme weather too

They never thought of any of this.  You should let them know before it’s too late.

Renerings are often deceiving because of the naturally ‘forced’ perspective. Sometime back someone posted the actual plans and cross sections through the new stadium. The roof extends further than it appears in the rendering. Tottenham Stadium is very much the same, and its roof covers the ENTIRE seating bowl.
