Sorry if already posted. I like this breakdown of Torrence I found on YouTube:

I don't think it's crazy to imagine him as the starter in week 1. He already has NFL size and power, just needs a little technique refinement.

He should start. Unless he really tanks in camp which I am sure he won't. Because talent wise he is in a different league to Bates.

if he and mcgovern show out, and brown is healthy, that's potentially 3 of 5 positions improved on the oline, w the other two being our by far best lineman holding it together for another season.

it could fail, but i really think the bills FO are addressing our issues (offensive weapons, blocking especially interior, d coaching/mindset).  given our cap and such we basically need the majority of our FA signings and picks to hit this year tho, so it's gonna fall on the coaches.

seems like his issue is first step aggression.  Should be able to fix that.

Glad to see you coming around on him, Gunner!

I didn't mind him as a 2nd round pick. I still think the fit is odd for the Bills offense but as I said in my day 2 debrief at the draft I have no idea what the Bills want their identity to be on the offensive line, it makes no sense to me they flip flop so often.

I would have hated it as a first round pick. You don't take a guard in round 1 unless you think he has perennial all pro like potential. That isn't Torrence for me. He is a two contract above average starter, but he isn't a potential star.

Wasn't that the sentiment on the Cody Ford pick too?

Let's wait and see how the youngster performs vs NFL men before he's anointed the starter.

The man dropped to 59 which does present some concern.

A poster on the message board giving their opinion.

another poster on the message boards not to give their opinions, but to wait.

as if a poster on a message board could anoint him…. Or have any sort of impact on the future

I mean, my post clearly left room for him struggling to perform against men and not being the starter. I am just confident it won't happen.

More than fair opinion. You have a much much much better eye for college talent than I. So I will defer...

I agree with you. His game is solid, and I will be surprised if he isn't a long term starter in the league.  I disagree about potential star.  I think that second round picks are by definition potential stars.  They have special talent.  Most don't become stars, but they have the potential.  I think Torrrence is in that category.  Probably not a star, but potential?  Yes.

I don't think all second round picks are potential stars. Rounds 2 and 3 are generally where you get a real mix between high floor, low ceiling, and low floor, high ceiling. I think Torrence is in that first camp. I can see him going to a few pro bowls, he might sneak an all pro somewhere along the line but he isn't going to be a perennial all pro type.

Yes, probably, but I'll take reliably competent and plays with aggression at G over what we've had there for years it seems. Not only do they appear to never settle on a coherent approach to the line, they so value versatility (I understand why it is important) that the end result has been less than mediocre folks manning most of the spots and barely decent oline play as the ceiling for the units they've put out there. Hopefully this will change starting now.

I totally get what you are saying, however with offensive line play across the NFL being what it is, a two contract OG is in that Pro Bowl mention range more often than not and even vying for NFL All Pro honors be it even second or third team. I would take that from a 2nd round pick at any position.

I do also think he has room to grow. He seems very coachable and I do believe landing in Buffalo may be one of the best places he could have landed for it with the organization having the growth mindset.
