I'm not much of a documentary guy but When We Were Kings was one of the most effective, transfixing pieces of film I've ever seen.

ALI!  BOOM BY YA!

Most of my favorite sports documentaries are 30 for 30 episodes.  30 for 30 is the only thing ESPN has done right since 1990s IMO.

Run Ricky, Run

Once Brothers

those are two of my favorite episodes.  All 30 for 30 episodes are great.  I live in Fall River now- so I find the Chris Herron episode interesting

Real Sports with Bryant Gumbel is a regular series on HBO, and is excellent.

Each show is an hour and they usually have 3 or 4 segments on different stories.

There's a documentary you can watch on Youtube about the Broad Street Bullies that I love, if we are talking about "feature film" documentaries.

Is this the one that was originally on HBO?  I always wanted to see that but they haven't shown it in years now

It goes against me being a Mets fan to enjoy this one as much as I do.

But it's one of the last teams imo before sports seemed to get more heavily corporate/analytic influenced/no players with any personality.

Still can’t believe we traded him AND McDowell away for Juan Samuel 😫
