I understand it all comes with being a franchise QB in the NFL but I don’t think Wilson missed Hamler because of his off field persona. The media loves to build you up and tear you down. The product last night was akin to a preseason game. Horrendous! You know it’s bad when even the announcers are openly making fun of the game in real time. You can think so (and I agree with the next week as well) but I think it has a lot to do with the short week, travel, recovery, and lack of preparation. Football isn’t like the other major sports. These teams need more time to plan and recover. I know it’s all about making a buck but the product and brand are suffering. He swapped out the SNF game for TNF. He has chased the dollars and now is saddled with some of the worst football each week. Richie Incognito was "eloquent" on the subject. Micah Hyde commented that he normally doesn't even start feeling good until Thursday. I don't understand why they don't just give TNF to teams coming off a bye, it seems like it ought to be a solvable schedule. However, I'm not sure a bye week for both teams would have saved last night's game. Russ Wilson was throwing late and consistently behind his WR. Matt Ryan was being buried in an orange shroud on every snap and forcing stupid throws just in an attempt to look like he was doing SOMETHING. Which, in the end, he did. I like that Pierce kid. Def. looks worth the 2nd round pick there. Both teams may actually have good defenses, time will tell. Frank Reich looks like he's 75 years old and been living in a Veteran's Home. I actually miss some of the low scoring games of the 90's that were just awesome defensive matchups. But they usually involved big hits, great pass breakups and tackling.
