One Bills Live with Chris Brown and... Maddy Glab?

I find it amusing that her voice is so annoying to Buffalo natives.  She has a thick Inland Northern working class accent that is prominent all around the Great Lakes, including Buffalo, Detroit, Cleveland, and Milwaukee.  Her Chicago accent isn't that different from those found all around WNY.

When I hear callers to local Buffalo radio shows, I cringe listening to their Sowt Bufflo ahhksents.  Maddy does have a youthful tone to her voice, but that's not any fault of hers, and shouldn't take away from the content of her statements.

Is there any broadcast commentator that everyone agrees on?

The woman does her homework and is an enthusiastic supporter of the Bills.  I don't find that she parrots the host at all. As far as her awards and lunchtime trivia games go - what do you expect. They're trying add a little light fun and fill their 2-3 hours, 5 days a week.

If you don't like the shows, don't listen.

To be fair;

Everyone hated Murph

Everyone hated Tasker

Everyone hated Donald Jones

Everyone hates Chris Brown

(Briefly) everyone hated Frierland

Now of course, everyone hates Maddy. This is a tough crowd. I really liked them all, but Murph could be too much a company man.

Personally, I'm fine with her voice, she's got a midwestern twang, very apt.

Maddy is doing pretty good and does a decent job. My only complaint is the cam is zoomed to close on her face during the video segments, and this annoys me, not because she's ugly ( she's not) , but its just too close and awkward. I hate this vibe from video feeds on NFL channel fantasy shows too.

If there is one gal i would request, its that I love Jenna Cottrell, and would love to see her on the payroll. Her spot is pretty good.

I would also love if we somehow ponied up for Kim Jones.

[thumbing through my Dark Dictionary -The Sorcery Source] Vampire is male. Maddy’s just a Vamp.

Personally, I don’t mind her. Living in Florida, I’ll take any Bills news I can get and she provides daily news, tweets and the Podcast with ‘Kimmo’. I love my WNY, but we got nothin’ on sports programming like the Big Apple down State 🤷‍♂️

There’s so many more shows you can listen to.  It’s not like Maddy is breaking stories or contributing a knowledgeable point of view.
Other than those that have been listening for the show for years and find it routine, I don’t see any reason to listen.  Very little information.  An uncomfortable ear drum is the most memorable part of each show

All have their strengths and weaknesses but her voice is a tough listen just as I know mine would be.  Mine sounds fine in my head but I hear a recording of it and I cringe.  Certainly not the basis of a professional career.  Someone mentioned Jenna Cottrell and Kim Jones and I have to agree.  Their voices are very professional and are an easy listen so it's not just a female voice issue with me.

Steve is a clumsy ad libber and questions to a guest will be that by nature.  But, I think he is great at telling stories, many of which he has probably told many times prior.  Also, I think Chris Brown is a better match with Steve than Murphy was.  Chris will often gently correct Steve's misstatements or complete his points when he loses his way in the middle of a sentence and struggles to complete the thought.

As a rule, the questions should never be longer than the answers.  It's tempting for an interviewer to try to demonstrate that they have some real knowledge of the topic but questions buried among parentheticals and asides make for a poor guest segment.  Most of WGRs younger talent have problems with this to some degree.  It's almost like they are trying too hard to justify their own presence on air and makes for a tough listen.

I am in fact a woman myself... And I do not care for Maddy Glab.

welcome to 2BD ^5

Im reading the thread out of market so havent heard said Glab all that often but it would be great if some homegrown Bills fangirl became an announcer and brought her insight and knowledge into the mix. Broadcasting careers I would guess are highly sought after . Gotta work your way up

I'd rather have Tasker.  I listen to that podcast pretty much every day.  When I hear that it's Maddy, I shrug it off and listen anyway.  It's not that I dislike her, it's that I'd rather listen to Tasker.  He's been there.  Chris Brown yells a lot, and he says "good on them" instead of "good for them."  That annoys me.

I hope she isn't reading all this.  She seems like a good person.  If you don't like her, find another podcast.

Hope Steve comes back soon.

Only one question…are you Maddy’s mom, dad or boyfriend? 😂

Content of her statements?  Like what, “oh I agree with everything you just said Chris”?  She has very little enjoyable content imo.

I don’t listen. Many people have agreed that they don’t listen because of her. That’s not good for business.  She should be fired.  Sorry Maddy Fam

No, I liked Murphy, although he went downhill over the years. I like Tasker. I loathed Donald Jones. I like Chris Brown.

I have defended the show a lot over the years. Maddy Glab just doesn't add any value to the show at all. I don't see how anyone could say she is doing a good job. Now, when she isn't a regular and just comes on the show for her short, silly segments? Fine. Whatever.

But it's a train wreck when she is expected to talk for three hours about NFL football. She rambles worse than Tasker, and it's always just to restate what Brown says. 100% of the time (unless they are rambling about their personal lives).

I don't care if she is fired or not. Just don't ask her to do what she clearly can't do. She can't talk about football live on air for 3 hours straight. For short, specific segments she is fine.

Yeah, boring won't cut it at a big city media outlet.   She sucks the "interesting" out of virtually any Bills conversation.   The perfect combo of monotonous droning(which is very straining to listen to on an am signal......where most of the listeners are getting the feed) and incredibly long winded, boring re-hashed takes.

Tasker's daughter got married in Alaska the weekend of the Washington game. I would imagine that's the reason for his absence.

Annie Tasker lives here in Anchorage.

One time I was walking into the local Lululemon with my wife and I was wearing a bills hoodie and cap then one of the employees came to me and ask me if I knew who Steve Tasker is and I told her of course I know Steve Tasker! Then she tells me that his daughter is the manager, she calls her and comes over to chat about the bills and the fact that she lives here. She told me Steve has been here a few times. She was so down to earth and very happy to see a bills fan (there are not many of us here, mostly seachickens fans).

To be fair-er,

In the wider world (yes, there is such a thing), above and beyond the self-acclaimed hipsters of TBD, Murph and Tasker are liked/loved, respected/revered.

All that show does is make me long for “Monday Night Quarterback” with Larry Felser and a young John Murphy

That was a fantastic show.  I actually knew Larry personally.  Total class.  He always asked my opinion on the team, even though he forgot more football than I've ever seen.  Great guy. RIP Larry.

Agreed.  Murphy hadn't yet developed his disdain for callers, and Felser always seemed to see issues with the team for what they were.  That show went by too quickly every week.
