Defending the wrong side of history. Can’t wait to revisit this thread years from now and memorialize you cowards who supported an anarchist.

So uber patriotic of you - embrace your legacy

Embrace your history.

With every stupid decision like this the former Republican, now Trumpian, party digs their grave a little deeper.  January 6th was an attempt to overturn results of a free and fair election.  Lessons need to be learned from it, and a bipartisan agreement was reached to do so.  But the Trumpian sycophants honestly believe that the same guy who lost the House, Senate, and White House to the Democrats is the guy who they should follow to regain power.

The Trumpian sycophants use the tired bromide of false equivalency to the protests over George Floyd to defend their position.  And you think independents, moderates, and actual Republicans are stupid enough to buy into this garbage?  They didn’t in 2020, and the stretch from the garbage is reeks even more now.  One can only hope this nonsense is shouted down clearly and decisively in 2022; then we can get back to having an honest to God Republican Party worthy of the name.

Yep...the GOP has won popular POTUS vote out of the last 8. They used to get mine for my first 8 elections ....I will never vote for this brand of national GOP.

I know the rabid GOP'ers say "good...libtard...go away".....But they keep making they party smaller and smaller. They need people like me...and there are many like me....to vote GOP again.....

Instead of that...dropboxes...something something...Trump....voter id....LGBQ.....blah blah....guns pew pew....abortion....

Bummer.

No need to.

No need to...waste time with a commission?  I agree.  But it appears it's going to happen so let's open all the riots up for investigation.

I take heart in the fact that if someone I meet is really passionate about being angry over 1/6, I know they’re not a serious person.

This is simply theater for the Joy Reid/Rachel Maddow crowd.   Boomer libs and geriatric dems.

True progressives don’t care about this nonsense.. they’re busy fighting for real things like healthcare, human rights abroad and a living wage.

I don't know.  How is Trump connected to the Capitol rioters?

Ask your friends - their defense is that Trump told them to go...

I guess we can reference this post when it happens again?

The sad state of the American public being manipulated by fake news and false narratives.   This is a serious response to Michael Tracey from someone who “thinks” they are educated on the topic.

What was the preferred outcome of 1/6; from your perspective?

Biden was elected President.  Biden became President.  Nothing that happened on 1/6 was going to change that.

It was not sedition.  It was not an insurrection.  It was a riot and should be condemned as such.

Then we should’ve moved tf on.

Instead.. the media lied to us about Officer Sicknick, corporate media amplified what happened as a cash cow to rile up their gullible liberal audience, the Feds turned vigilante citizens into the Stasi and politicians predictably exploited it for political gain.

So, we should pretend nothing happened on 1/6?  We should pretend that the President of the United States didn't piss all over his oath to preserve, protect and defend the Constitution of the United States?

You're going to lecture us on fake news; after the past five years of alternative facts?

If libs make Joy Reid/Rachel Maddow crowd proud - I can only imagine what Tucker Trump and Hannity do for you.

Why do you think I’m some huge Trump guy?

Have I ever rah-rah’ed for him that you can point to?

I voted for him, yes.. because the other option was nicer rhetoric with worse policy.

I don’t care for Hannity.  I do watch Tucker, but realize when he’s pushing a narrative and have plenty of moments where I disagree with him.

Where did I say pretend like nothing happened?  I specifically said it was a riot and should be condemned as such.   But yea, that’s about it.  Time to move on.

Go ahead and criticize Trump for his constant assertion that he falsely won the election.  That’s fair game, if you feel like you need to still talk about him all the time... but he didn’t “lead an insurrection”.

He simply propagandizes his followers into not believing the results of this past election... Like Hillary did with hers.. Like Stacey Abrams did with hers..

Blah blah blah - let’s just talk about Benghazi. Remember that charade that resulted in ZERO indictments?

At two years and four months, the GQP Benghazi investigation was longer than Congressional probes into 9/11, Watergate, the JFK assassination and Pearl Harbor.

So yes - as hard as you try to minimize what happened on 1/6 - it will get the attention it deserves.

After all - how many billions do we spend trying to protect the next three in the line of succession? All three who were present that day?

Yeah - as much as you and Bonnie whine about 1/6 - it’s not going away. Ever.

I know this whole thing is mostly political and I don't think the average American cares that much at this point.  However, it's going to be funny seeing the GOP Senators filibuster a bill passed by the House to set up a bipartisan commission to investigate an attack/riot in the same building where these same Senators literally had to go into hiding.
