Did D. Williams Make a LOT of $ Tonight?

I sure hope so not having to worry so much about the right side has been nice.

The failures on the RT has coincided with the drought.  I hope the Bills can pay this man and get 2 bookend Tackles for the next 3-4 years.

Hmm actually no one gave him a contact and the Bills did. Chances Bills resign him equal high!

I mean I think there will be the draw of a good situation around him here as well as a place he performs well in. But that only goes so far.

Easy decision to re-sign him over Milano. Our defense survived just fine without Milano in the lineup. I'm not sure what our offense would do if Williams went down. It is much much easier to find a WLB for McDermott's scheme than a RT that can block at a high level 1-on-1. Plus Milano gets banged up every year. I'm surprised anyone would think Milano is more valuable.

Damn right he did. Watt was basically a non-factor tonight

Not exactly. He got some pressures on Allen and forced him to get rid of the ball sooner. Or move away from the pressure.

But yes, Williams did a nice job for sure.

I think given the amount of resources he'd demand, Milano is a much lower priority. I think you can replace Milano easier than you can replace Williams.

Given that we were managing to field decent defense with Milano on IR, but that we haven't had quality RT play for years, I think you're right.

Nsekhe is capable, but at his age/injury history not an every game, all season player.

Didn't it seem he was going JUST a fraction before the ball 2as snapped nearly every play? He either has an AMAZING reaction time or is very lucky not to get flagged every play.

Common among vet OL. We have seen Pats do this for 20 years , good for him.

The Bills need to keep all their leaders, and as many of their 8s as possible, but it's hard because 8s want to get paid like 9s or even 10s, and there are teams willing help out.  Williams is playing like an 8, and he'll probably follow Phillips somewhere else.  We can't pay him like a 9 or 10.  We should be able to pay him like a true 8, and if he wants to accept that and stick around, that would be just fine.  I just doubt that will happen.

Help me better understand your evaluation: was tonight's performance by Williams an "8" in your eyes?

(It's probably obvious that I value his single-handed elimination of Watt more than you do. Aside from a false start, one could argue he was elite against an elite opponent, allowing Daboll to call plays straight up, without dedicating extra blockers or shorter drops or limited routes.)

I actually thought his false start was too close to call. Almost like in track-and-field, when a sprinter doesn't have to actually leave the blocks BEFORE the gun to be in violation; anticipating the snap TOO well looks like a penalty.

No, that was a true false start.

Don't believe the Bills can pay him market value. Over 6 years he got paid 12M, so he's not going to give the Bills a discount ,he'll have earned his first big contract. You're looking at 4 years,  8M+ a year + 9M bonus

How much is the tag worth?

If you want to keep him why not just sign him?

Also Murphy is a FA after this season

~14M

so pay him $14 M guaranteed for one year or sign him for 3 years at $30m?

Neither option is appealing but can’t see them tagging him
