I think Duke Williams will be a starting receiver in this league, but not here. He has the pedigree, great size, great strength, great hands. Problem is he has to either start or play special teams.

Not even in the least, but to each their own I guess.

I won’t say she’s hot but she’s alright and seems kinda cool.  Not a fan of her voice though.

I think those are spots 4 & 5. Davis is much more likely to make the team than Roberts (for example). The Bills may keep 7 this year but I think Roberts is on the bubble if it’s 6. They just have too many talented receivers to keep a pure punt returner (albeit a very good one).

If McKenzie can take over punt returns, I think Roberts is done.

Agreed.   If it comes down to Roberts or Hodgins for #6, I hope they go with youth and an ability to grow vs. the veteran -- even if that runs counter to how McD likes to roll.

McDermott wanted some veteran presence in each position group when he and Beane were restructuring the entire team.

Most of that is over with.  Not saying that Roberts makes the team or not but the Bills got a large number of guys over 30 already

and I expect to see a number of them leaving in the next 2 years.

I don’t think it is because he’s a bad player. I also think that he’s a lock if they go to 7. He’s certainly less of a lock than Davis though. He is probably the 5th most likely “receiver” at this point. I’d say that he is more likely than McKenzie who would be next and Duke/Hodgins after that. Hodgins probably can get to the PS which may make Duke a little more expendable. They could also trade one of Roberts/McKenzie/Duke. If the Bills do stick to 6 though Roberts is competing with McKenzie, Duke, and Hodgins for 2 roster spots. At that point it is probably one of McKenzie or Roberts and one of Duke or Hodgins. Roberts only averaged 4.4 touches per game INCLUDING his returns. They may decide, with the kickoff rules as they are, to use that spot on someone who is more of an offensive threat. Again, I think Roberts makes the team but he certainly isn’t in stone with the way that the back of this receiver depth chart (including him) is performing.

I don't think we can take for granted the security Roberts provides as a returner.  How many times in the past have we had guys back there where you're holding your breath?  Roberts is a true "specialist" and it appears he is serviceable at WR if needed as well.  Plus, from the way he talked earlier in the summer he's certain they're going to be able to break some big returns this year.  I think McD really wants to make ST a weapon.  I'll be damn near shocked if Roberts doesn't make it.  My preference is actually for them to keep 7 WRs and Hodgins would be #7.

Do you remember watching McKenzie back there?  I want no part of that.

He was rough with the Bills but had some success in that role with the Broncos.  McKenzie also is the only guy moving on the snap and plays a huge role in keeping the DEs honest.   That being said the Bills I believe had the best kick return field position in the NFL last year.  That is due to Roberts IMO and should not be taken for granted.

If they go 7 WR’s then you keep Duke and place Hodgins on the PS IMO.

Having the crowd with you, especially in numbers, does have an impact on a game -- so I get this concern by not just Josh but everyone in the league. But part of me thinks that going into a quarter filled stadium of opposing fans, and annihilating them on the field, is going to be more fun than Josh thinks.
