716 - seriously, maybe you're all you say you are.   Just hear this:

If you think racism in this country is about a tiny, tiny, tiny minority, you don't understand what racism is about.  Hear that, and let that sink in.  Maybe you are 100% not part of the problem, but until this country recognizes racism is about most of the white people living here, we're going nowhere.  The problem is everywhere.

I totally agree that when people don't stand up for injustice it makes things worse

White people need to stand up for black brown and Asian people, but black brown Asian people also need to show solidarity

A House divided cannot stand

I have a history degree with a specialization in early American history. So I have lots of conversations about America with people... I had a conversation with a man before, who actually believed that over 50% of white Americans owned slaves

That can be a dangerous thinking, because if you believe that, then it's easy to believe that most whites are racist and hate most other ethnicities

Needless to say he was surprised, to find out that only about 10% of white people in America own slaves. and that a hundred thousand Southerners fought for the union to free the slaves.. and that hundreds of thousands of Union troops died to free the slaves

We have a lot of problems in our country, but there was even a lot of good men 150 years ago that died for those black people's freedoms and im glad they did

I didn't ask you if you call 9-1-1, doc.  Nice try.

Just answer the very simple question.  Can cops make a stop based on a 9-1-1 call?

You're right, disagreers are clearly wrong.  Police are allowed to make a brief investigative stop based on a reasonable 911 call.

I mean this is the basis of 9-1-1(reporting crimes or dangerous situations), other than for medical emergencies.  Who would not understand this as obvious?

Let us hope that NEXT time something like this happens (and sadly there WILL be a next time), we can avoid rushing to judgement without all the facts. I mean, next time the guy may in fact be guilty, but either way.........let’s wait for the facts to come out the the process to run. We are all about “the process”, remember?

Not a chance ppl love to rush to judgement.....that is there thing

Just on a call of speeding and swerving?  No.  They should respond to the call and see if they can observe it since if they're drunk, even if they see a cop, they still can't help themselves.

Well, if you feel there is a person driving so erratically, they could cause a serious accident or injury why would you NOT call it in?

If I saw it happen it would likely be once since if they're speeding, they'd have passed me.  Again I see it all the time.

It worked out for Oliver. That does not always happen. Let's hope that he learns from this, and hires a Limo, when he wants to party.

Learns to hire a Limo...when he's not drunk?  Or under the influence of anything?

Wrong again.  It absolutely is allowed.  I even cited the USSC decision to help you not make that unforced error.

Instead, you tripled down on it.

You sound like a nice guy.  You're living in a false reality. I hope someday you will see the truth.

Perhaps the police officer did not observe this behavior.

I do not believe they can charge someone with a traffic violation based on hearsay (a phoned report) but perhaps I am incorrect here?

I personally would not want to be able to be charged with something because Citizen Cathy called the police and reported that I was driving 80 mpg in a 45 mpg zone and driving erratically, unless there were some corroborating evidence of this.

And you can't tell how fast a car is going without looking at the speedometer. So there's no way to know if he was going that fast unless the cops clocked him at that speed.

If the world is as effed up as you're making it sound

Wouldn't it be better to live in perpetual bliss so I can continue to be the kind of guy I am. Instead of possibly becoming angry at the world

I can and do make a difference in my community because I'm positive

Great.  Sure worked well here, eh?

And nothing beats the quadrupling you did in the original thread.  It was reminiscent of your Shady takes.  Like I said, comedy gold.

Um, considering many states have a legal breathalyzer limit of 0.08, "zero point zero" doesn't really mean anything in this instance.

I mean, his attorney made a point of saying EO’s blood work came back greater than 0.000. Attorneys are dumb, I would guess via bloodwork it revealed something like 0.0004. Which mean he had a beer like 9 hours earlier.

Can you clarify this because it sounds like you’re saying racism is hereditary by suggesting that descendants of white slave owners are racist by relation to their ancestors.

It’s not just about the slavery issue. As a nation, we have to reconcile government sanctioned genocide, Jim Crow and the remnants of its systemic racism, voter suppression, etc. Slavery is just one issue.

How and who did Ed Oliver pay in the DA’s office to have those tests come back negative.

Are you under the delusion that I’m speaking for you? Your horse crap bucket is deep. You need to get over your defensiveness.

And to clue you in, it isn’t just white people that have to reconcile our nations’s past. It’s all of us. As a nation. That is, if we are REALLY serious about seeing the promise of America lived up to.

You said, “in terms of our country’s legacy, it’s a whites only thing.”

Maybe if you amended that statement with the above, we wouldn’t disagree.

That is absolutely true, and I think it's one of the most positive and simplest solutions to to racism.  Just do the right thing.

The limitation of that approach is that if you can't see racism all around you, and you don't, there are a lot of right things to do that you're missing.

I don't think it's hereditary I think it's a learned behavior from all ethnicities

That story was specifically about one conversation I had with an individual, who believed that over half of white Americans owned slaves back in the day.. and that was his rationale for white people being racist. If over 50% were racist back then , must be the same today

Because where did they all go? That was basically his point

And I had to explain that there were way more white people that fought and died to free the slaves, then there were people who were owning slaves

if you grow up thinking that all or the majority of white people were descendants of slave owners, whether you're white Asian black brown... it's certainly would put them in a very negative light in your mind

I know white people who hate their ancestors for owning slaves and actually hate themselves for being white.. and I say you can hate your ancestors, but don't hate yourself because you're different and you can do good
