Its not the cases but the hospitalizations that is particularly noteworthy. PA alone is up close to 80% on hospitalizations in 3 weeks. Still manageable but not a trend anyone likes to see.

Florida hasn’t stopped leading the US on deaths in forever. Opening will do that and we need to be open but I doubt the Dems have the stomach to see their death counts go to 10x what they are.

21,311 Americans died in September.  Do you really think that most Americans, regardless of political affiliation, would be okay with more than 200,000 deaths a month???

That would be as many deaths from Covid-19 in one month as between January through September.

That number won’t happen. But 10x could happen in certain states that have been low for a long time.

That's true but in any state or community, large or small, a ten fold increase in coronavirus cases resulting in hospitalizations could easily overwhelm the health care system(s) there.   The good news is that the health care community is more prepared for a second wave and has better procedures to deal with it.  The bad news is that some politicians continue to downplay the seriousness of the pandemic.  It's much worse than the flu, and we don't know if the many deleterious effects that have been reported in recovered Covid 19 victims last only a month or two or are permanent.

Someone please explain to the dimwits who don't understand that the mask doesn't stop you from GETTING Covid, but lessens droplet transmission.  That includes all the people who have been spreading Trump's 85% of mask wearing people getting it.

That's true.  A mask will help prevent you from infecting someone else so it can serve a useful function.  But the majority of people infected with COVID report wearing a mask all the time when out in public.  And still got inflected.

One conclusion is the infection is most likely to be transmitted among family members in their living space, at other social gatherings, or between people living in close proximity to each other like in high density housing but not so much in general public settings like at the local supermarket.

I think you are correct.   We let our guards down around people we know.   I was exposed to Covid-19 (not infected) when I walked my dog with a friend at a local park.  That friend didn't know that she'd been infected because she had no symptoms.  We didn't wear masks but we were at least 4-6 feet apart on the walk.   I lucked out but somebody else might not have been so lucky which is how the virus spreads so invidiously.

so why not drop the first line and the COVID-19 stuff, and just present the rest?

18 U.S.C. § 1112 defines “the commission…without due caution and circumspection, of a lawful act which might produce death” as “involuntarily manslaughter,” a felony punishable by 8 years in federal prison. Donald Trump commits that crime every time he holds one of his rallies.

I'll think about changing the lines above the stats.  It somewhat depends upon the pandemic news that comes out today -- and whether Trump says something else outrageous or untrue about pandemic.

Never!!!!

The title of this thread is "Covid 19 vs Trump".   I started it to highlight the consequences of Trump's failure to deal effectively with the pandemic and his decision to politicize public health policies.  The rising number of deaths from the coronavirus is the starkest indictment of Trump's total leadership failure.  When the coronavirus disappears like Covid Donnie has been predicting it would for six months -- or he's no longer the POTUS -- then this thread can disappear, too.

You don't have to read the thread if its content isn't something you're interested in.

If he explained it like that I'd be fine with it, but he was just pouring gas on his Covidiot supporters.
