It’s the middle of August! The world hasn’t ended. Our civilization has become so isolated from infectious diseases that almost nobody alive has any reference point. In my little corner of America the vast majority of people are getting up and going to work every day. Restaurants are busy every weekend, but the tables are outside now. I can go on and on, but it’s clear the private sector has adapted despite the government doing everything they can to put their boot on the throat of the population. US military deaths during that time numbered 405,399 or about 301 per day. From the first reported death in the US from Covid-19, February 6, 2020, until yesterday, August 15, 2020 is 192 days – six months and ten days. Covid-19 deaths in the US during that time number 169,405 or about 882 per day. If American soldiers had died at the same rate that Americans are currently dying of Covid 19, the US military deaths for WW II would have numbered 1,188,936. More Americans have died of the cornavirus in the last six months than the 153,090 American military personnel who died in WW I (116,516) and the Korean War (36,574). The CDC recently projected that as many 200,000 Americans could die of Covid 19 by Labor Day, September 7, 2020, which would be 11,310 fewer deaths than the US military suffered in WWI, the Korean War, and the Vietnam Conflict (58,220) combined. That's about 36,000 people per day. If we were to have lost that many people per day throughout the length of the war with Japan we would have lost 48,528, 000 people.
