They never gave me a letter because the location was secret although anyone could follow me and see where I worked. I can imagine conversation with Police Officer (PO) is stopped: PO: Are you aware Mr. Host that the State of Virginia is under a weather lockdown Me: The government has determined my work is essential and I need to report for my shift. Person replacing is ending 12 hour shift. PO: Which government Mr. Host? Me: Federal Government, US Government PO: Did they provide you a letter? Me: No. PO: What agency? Me: I am not at liberty to tell (still can't) PO: That is not acceptable Mr. Host Me: I can give you my supervisor number PO: We he tell me? Me: I don't know but that is his call not mine. PO: How do I know who this person is? Me: Caller ID? PO: That is not sufficient Me: You can follow me. I cannot stop you. PO: Are you trying to be funny? Me: No. I am just that anyone could find out that way and I cannot say anymore per law. PO: I will give you a citation and you are to return home immediately with no stops. I was also labelled essential for Haiti. I worked on the system used by Army's XVIII Airborne Corps, headquarters of the United States Army Special Operations Command, which oversees the U.S. Army 1st Special Forces Command (Airborne) and 75th Ranger Regiment and a lot more groups. I was given notice I had to report to Ft. Bragg for "indefinite duration". I told my boss our contract does not work that way. My boss, a retired colonel in ARMY, told me they are not kidding and the Chief of Staff of the Army has a letter stating you are essential for efforts and if you do not go MPs will pick you up and you will be paid whatever government decides not current pay scale. I haven’t gotten a tax refund deposited in a few years. Lately I’ve owed a little bit after doing my taxes. I wonder if that means I’ll get a check in the mail. Did you pay by check or bank withdrawl? As long as the IRS has your routing and account numbers on file they will direct deposit. Meanwhile the most needy are still waiting for a paper check. We don’t need it or want it. Think about all the people like us who got money we didn’t need.
