Looks like the NFL is about to have the New CBA.

What is the minimum rookie salary now?

"$100K increase in 2020 for Rookie Minimums, another $50K increase in 2021 and then $45K

increase each year after"

How is this going to effect the bottom of your roster?

"Performance Based Pay increased to $8.5M in 2020 and $10M in 2021, with annual increases

thereafter"

Is this so you can make contacts performance based?  I'm assuming performance bonuses are a part of their cap number?

"Raises for Practice Squad Players to $10.5K per week; total number of 12 players increasing to 14

players, with two unlimited Accrued Seasons players"

2 unlimited spots. That's pretty cool.

AFC

1 seed Bye - Best Record

2 vs 7

3 vs 6

4 vs 5

not to difficult. Then a reseed that has

1 vs 4

2 vs 3

I was thinking that the top two three seeds would get a bye. It wasn't making sense.

Thanks. That does work - unlike my brain before a second cup of coffee.

doesn’t say that ANYWHERE in the fact sheet. Does it?  So until I see the CBA that says otherwise I keep my point that a Positive test will not result in a suspension.

so how many PS players except a “Futures” contract over going to get paid in the Spring?

Additionally once XFL can show the pathway to the NFL I am willing to bet you start seeing College Recruits defect to the Paid league as well.

My guess is based on everyone of the current Bills PS players accepting a futures contract - that the majority would stay in the NFL rather than move to a spring league.  The guys in the XFL are mostly washouts and guys that have little shot at getting back into the NFL.  The PS players are going to stick to the NFL because that is their shot.

As to college players skipping college and going to the XFL - I think that is just crazy talk.  Will 1 or 2 guys that do not have the grades maybe take a shot - could be, but the majority will not for the exact reason we have going on in Indy right now - combine and the draft.  Playing in the XFL will mean those guys will not be going to the combine and will not be getting the meetings with the teams.  If the NFL leaveS the 3 years from HS rule in place - these guys would need to play in the XFL for for 2 years and take a year off getting ready (not a great plan) or risk playing a 3 rd year  and playing right up until the draft - mid April based on this year’s calendar- I don’t think that is a risk most players will take.

NCAA sees the loss to XFL as a risk. And why they recently dropped the sit out a year for a transfer and grant immediate eligibility

And why after California law changes - players will be paid.

The XFL pay scale is lower than the PS payouts - so I think most players will sign their future contracts and the colleges are allowing transfers and shortly - pay - the pool of higher end XFL talent begins to further melt away.

The other league realized without getting an agreement with the NFL/NFLPA to use these guys the talent was never going to flourish.  Basically the XFL is arena league football.  Different rules - low end talent - it will have a few guys that make it back to the NFL - just like Arena and AAFL did, but if they can’t compete to even get the majority of PS players and that number goes up.  They are in trouble long term.

Can’t say they are in trouble with stables attendance and ratings and wait and see how many get on the 90 man camp Roster

I wonder if they stay with 4 preseason games and allow 53 active for games.

All players will not be on active roster; they may expand roster and practice squad size but not all will be active.  Inactive roster was created so young players injured and will recover in a few weeks were not immediately cut with injury settlement so roster space could be filled.

See my links I added. Remember PFT is Always against Owners will “tailor” their posts that way

Sounds like a lot of posters should apply for work there.  I know they have very few writing or verification standards.

Very good news.

I was expecting months of feigned outrage, histrionics and bed wetting.

Is bed wetting covered in new contract?  If not they should go on strike!

An extra game is more damaging than a pro rata calculation

How damaging is a pro rata calculation in your experience?

This seems like a very short-sighted act by the players.  I don't see anything in the new CBA about post-career healthcare.  I see a significant drop in padded practices, more days off and more money due to the 17th game.

NFL owners "negotiating" with players is like Kramer competing in a karate match against a 9-year-old.

Is Goodell going to lose his composure and start screaming the N-word at all the players??  I don't think I get this reference.

CA law only affects endorsements, likenesses, etc. not being paid for games/

Yes, but the NCAA is working to balance that out to prevent either an unfair CA advantage with athletes getting paid or having to block all students in CA from competition as they have been paid.

Actually ratings have dropped each week just like the AAFL - attendance is variable because some teams like ST. Louis just had a home opener that got big attendance - some games in other markets attendance was down.

How many players exactly do you think are making the 90 man camp roster from this league?  You are talking like you expect a bunch - just not sure why?

The AAFL folded early and actually made great timing as FA was not completed and it was still a while before the draft and they got a small number with better talent.  The timing on the XFL season is really bad.  The season completes well after the FA period has been done and right before the draft.  They will most likely get a few of their top end players - Cam Phillips, maybe a QB or two picked up from teams that missed out on a position in the draft, but most teams will be down to filling in the last few roster spots.  These guys will be competing against undrafted FAs to fill rosters.

If the top couple of players from each team are picked up - you are talking about 16 players maybe about where the AAFL was - not exactly a big marketing push - especially as many of them will be cut as part of the roster cut downs.

I really don’t think that will make this a viable league long term and it will not drive players from PS or the NCAA to the league.  At least that is my opinion as of now.  I just do not see this ending well for the XFL and part of that is the new CBA and the increase in players and money.

Per 1280 WHTK (Rochester Sports Radio) it sounds like Aaron Rodgers, and Richard Sherman were two of the team designated players that turned down the contract.

From what I understand, Aaron Rodgers liked aspects of the CBA, but the player reps for the 32 teams did not have access to the whole contract, and while there were things he liked, when polling his teammates he had to vote no.

Richard Sherman backed him up shortly after on Twitter.

Agree or disagree with them, I do think Rogers and Sherman are pretty bright guys. It's been interesting to follow.

There's no chance that the League is considering anything going on in the XFL when they negotiated this CBA.

Ratings dropping already.  When March Madness starts it will be all over.
