Josh Allen - week THREE report card

He's clutch, which is something we'll seriously come to value.

That int, for as bad as it was, was more easy for me to take then him reading defenses poorly and getting found out. It was just a dumbass hero attempt that can be coached in black and white: don't throw in that situation, ever.

I'll go with a C

The game winning drive is great and all, but we were only trailing in that game due to poor QB play. He had 2 bone headed plays that probably should have cost us the game (and would have against a better team). I'm looking at the intentional grounding that got us out of FG range and the INT (similar looking plays).

Didn't Yeldon lost the ball inside the Bengals Red Zone.  Why blame only Allen.     We didn't score TDs and settled for FG in two other trips into the red zone.

Glad to see McD's blunt assesment after the game:

“You’ve got to be smart,” McDermott said. “You can’t throw the ball over the middle of the defense like that. I thought that was a play that changed the momentum of the game. Before that, their offense really hadn’t done much, and I thought our defense did well. And then that really, to me, changed the momentum of the game. In particular, turning the ball over on our side of the field. So we’ve got to learn from that and play smarter football. That’s really what I’m looking for, is to play smart.”

We just won NFL Redzone's "Drive of the day"

This, plus both he & Gore tripping each other -they both went face first into the turf. Josh fumbled, picked it up jumped to his feet and made a short completion. Stat sheet shows meager 3 yard gain. But the crowd and savvy fans know that was a fantastic recovery. As was ‘the Drive’!

Grade: A

Passing grade thanks to the win. But he was poor all day long.

You didn't watch the game did you?

In any case, I give him a B -

His first half was at a very high level, the rest of the offense made mistakes and they could have easily came away with over 20 points by half time.

The pick was inexcusable and led to a complete momentum shift.  He was flustered after that pick for the next couple drives but when the rubber met the road Josh Allen does what he just about always does, he came through.   The guy is an exceptionally cool when the pressure is on and that is a tremendous quality to have.

The play calling this time coming out of the half I would characterize as too conservative, last week when lots of fans were hemming and hawing about how the game plan was conservative in the 2nd half, they were wrong.  The Bills were not conservative they just didn't execute and it gave the appearance of them being too conservative.  This week in the 2nd half the Bills tried running it too often and threw on downs that were predictably passing downs and Josh wasn't able to get things going.

The Bills are best when they are running the shotgun formation at least half the time, Josh is able to see the field more clearly and the Bills keep the defenses more off balance, at least from my observations.

I gave him an A for the first half and D for the second half.  Would have been an F (due to that atrocious pick) if it hadn't been for his last drive heroics but he came through.

B  for me. He needs to never throw a ball like that again in his life and I love the clip of Daboll really laying into him on the sideline.

But he came through in the clutch when needed..again! The positives far outweighs the negative.

O line needs to shore up their protection and Daboll needs to get out of the reverses on third and one. We don’t need to act like we are smarter than everyone, pound the ball get the first.

I went C+ but my general reflection of his game is the same as yours.
