I freely admit that being ex military myself and the fact that she is ex military and served in the same conflicts I did probably have an affect on my judgement. What opinions do people have here? As a President or maybe even a Vice President? I like your posts on the main board, I read through the responses here to avoid repeating what others may have already said. Good for you for getting involved. I won't rehash what many have said, and like you won't try to change your opinion. DR does a much better job of laying out the concerns I started to have about the two party system 10 or 15 years ago. I'm not so sure about everything he believes, but i decided long ago to cast my vote for those who will hurt the country and my family least. I believe Trump, for all his warts, is a national treasure. Before writing me off as just another crazy, i would describe myself as a centrist on many issues. I think reasonable taxation is reasonable, and the redistributive theory of our tax code is a reasonable way to approach the world. I support equality among people, struggle with abortion beyond a certain point in a pregnancy, think the march toward more socialistic policies is a mistake, abhor the ACA while recognizing what followed was predictable and likely cooked into the system. I feel quite strongly that our immigration system is a mess, that our current open borders policy is a recipe for disaster! and that our political leadership intentionally kicks the can down the road for fun and profit. I dig my hand into my pocket to assist friends and neighbors in need, and like most people who feel similarly think that's just kinda what decent people do. My problem is with excess, and govt excels at excess. Back to Trump being a treasure. To me, he's like the noble soul who is called to empty the septic tank when it is full. He's necessary, relevant and without him, a situation that has been occurring over time morphs from a situation to a challenge, to a problem, to a disaster with potentially far reaching impact. In a perfect world, the septic tank guy comes in and he's professional, well-mannered, thorough and gets the job done with a minimal amount of spillage. Trump isn't that guy, but for all his faults, this septic tank is pretty damn big, it doesn't want to be emptied and it fights back. As for presidential demeanor, it's overblown and oversold. I didn't see a reference from you re:BO, but acknowledging he was a much smoother liar/cheat/fraud than DT is something I am fine with doing. However, it is 100% clear, with no wiggle room to debate, that he oversaw the surveillance of the opposition candidate for president, that the election of 2016 was not based on anything resembling a "fair" election, and in most other times in our history the masses would be looking for him to answer for his actions. Another poster mentioned he's met him and he seems like a good guy--and while I respect his right to feel that way, on this basis alone he simply is not. As for your candidate, if she turns out to be a candidate that I can believe in with real ideas that match my views on many or most of the important issues of our time, I'll hold the door open for you so you can go in and cast your vote and cast mine shortly thereafter. However, when one is a low level player---none of the jackals have yet to attack, and that changes everything. btw, as a reasonable guy, I think it's acceptable to recognize McCain's service as a veteran and stand in awe of the brutality he endured and still be able to recognize he was a political gutter rat. Tulsi Gabbard (D-Hawaii) was pushed Wednesday about whether she thinks Bashar Assad is an enemy of the United States, she said the Syrian dictator is not. On MSNBC’s “Morning Joe,” she was asked outright if Assad is a foe of America. “Assad is not the enemy of the United States,” Gabbard replied, “because Syria does not pose a direct threat to the United States.” Correspondent Kasie Hunt pressed the congresswoman, who recently announced she’s running for president in 2020, about her January 2017 meeting with Assad during a trip to Syria shortly after Syrian government forces retook the rebel-held city of Aleppo. Gabbard had told CNN’s Jake Tapper last month that she doesn’t regret the controversial meeting. She reinforced that sentiment with Hunt.

Why do you believe that the toxic "battlefield" feel of press events is Trump's fault, and not, say, idiots like Jim Acosta who do nothing but pontificate stupidity in the guise of a question, shout inappropriate questions at inappropriate times, make false statements (again in the guise of a question), and ask disingenuous questions (before refusing to yield the microphone)? Is Trump and Sanders just supposed to take being falsely attacked without complaint, in order to "act presidential"? Is your answer to go back to Obama's "presidential" solution to try to cast out entire networks (instead of just disruptive "reporters")? There's the establishment uniparty - which favors regime change, perma war and all the perks those policies give the establishment (control over the people, government, while inflating the contractors' budgets) - then there's everyone else. Tulsi has made her bones in Congress opposing those policies - but the "left" can't hit her on being against perma war (because until Trump, the "left" was against perma war) so instead they use their favorite weapon: identity politics. She made comments about being opposed to gay rights, years ago - at the same time Biden, Obama, Clinton, and others in the left were touting the same anti-gay marriage lines Tulsi made - so they buried her with it. Because identity politics isn't about ending racism and bigotry, it's about weaponizing and exacerbating them.

John, I think you'd discover that most of the "Trump supporters" in PPP were not original supporters. Most (including me) never took him seriously or found him personally off putting prior to his victory. What's happened in the 2 years since then, aside from the exposure of a deeply treasonous palace coup attempt by members of both political parties and compromised elements within the US Intelligence Community, is Trump has governed like a centrist. Despite the media screaming (without factual evidence to support it) that he's a Putin cut-out, or a dictator. The reality is he's been steady - which is a HUGE accomplishment when you consider how much flack he's had to take from day one. Trump has issues, he steps on plenty of rakes. He's not a saint - but he's not the evil POS that he's been painted to be in the MSM. If you can come to terms with that reality - then you have to ask why has so much money and time been spent trying to paint an otherwise centrist leaning POTUS as Hitler reborn? Is there more to the story? You betcha. And it ain't pretty. 1

Harris, looking to build on Obama's race war strategy for her own benefit? All of them with this 'original sin' concept for white people (is all that privilege making your life cushy these days John?), and this whole undercurrent of 'socialism good, capitalism bad' while we sit here at place of peace and prosperity that is light years beyond what has been achieved anywhere else in the world, ever, is just insanity at a level that is hard to comprehend.

Pine Barrens Mafia
So, what we've learned from John's thread is he likes the way TG talks, and probably how she looks. And that's the reason he wants her to be president. Well-mannered thread, but eh, what?

I for one engaged him how he requested so I'll be disappointed if I don't see a thoughtful response. Hopefully he won't get lost in the all the spam from the usual nitwits that most of us have on ignore.

Well, I've asked him a few times how TG would come up with the 3.2T dollars needed per year to pay for medicare for all.

Part of the 3.2 could come from stop paying for things like Medicare, Medicaid, VA and roll it all into Comprehensive Insurance for all. Presently the government pays for 60% of all health care now. I probably wouldn't like it because I go to VA and get excellent care. Would be great for small bidness if they didn't have to pay ridiculous premiums for their employees. You pay for it one way or the other.

I'd need to understand the numbers better, but I actually could be convinced to get on board with Medicare for all because the current system of having it go through employers is completely ***** and taxpayers end up footing the bill for millions of exceptions anyway. If you looked at the total dollars employers pay for employee medical benefits (I couldn't find that number in 30 seconds of looking), I bet you could get most of the way to your $3.2B.

You'd be doubling the federal budget with one program. That WILL require a massive tax increase. Not only that, there will still be individual premiums. Ask anyone on Medicare.
