This is a great example of where stats can be so misleading! Anyone watching the game could see that Jackson struggled through the first three & a half quarters in a way that few QB's have EVER struggled in the history of the NFL. Now to his credit Jackson took advantage of SD going to sleep and avoided a couple of INT's on that 2nd TD drive to end up posting okay numbers. But on that last drive with the game on the line and SD having woke back up you saw how the WHOLE game would have gone had SD had a crappy FG kicker. Jackson was not ready for playoffs and they should have had discussion DURING halftime with QBs on what would happen if he continued being ineffective. The 7 DB defense would not have been as effective against Flacco. Part of the issue may be some of the WRs who clearly supported Jackson over Flacco with some local Ravens fans saying that some WRs dogged it trying to get Jackson to be starter. Sure in the broadest possible terms you are right that BOTH QB's have to improve a lot in their passing game. But Allen seems to have much superior arm talent compared to Jackson. And UNLIKE Jackson Allen doesn't have near the experience in slinging the ball all over the place. Allen's learning curve is steeper then Jackson's because of the circumstances of his time at Wyoming/Jr College compared to Jackson's experiences at LV. That Allen is clearly ahead of Jackson with respect to his passing game and that I would expect Allen to have an even bigger improvement in the off season leaves me confident in saying that Allen's upside is a lot higher then Jackson's. 1 Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

Or as he said "representative" @BadLandsMeanie and I had some talk about this back around the draft. In addition to the Wonderlic, Lamar had some very questionable posts on his Instagram feed leading up to the draft. One wonders if he and his mom were intentionally wanting to lower his value - high enough that he'd still be a 1st round pick with the cachet and extra benefit-of-doubt that brings, but low enough that he'd minimize his media scrutiny and expectations. Stats are deceiving - you can have a team be down 4 TDs at end of 3rd quarter so opposing defense plays prevent to try to prevent them from winning but they get 3 TDs and statisticians will rave about his 4th quarter performance.
