I don’t care what people would think about a one game sample size. If you take their entire body of work into account so far, Baker has been the best and it’s not even close.

The point is that the largest sample size we have is what, 10 games?  It is entirely possible that the ranking in two years is upside down from today.

I like Baker but I can't be totally down or totally sold on any of them yet.  The closest I am for any of them is being down on Rosen.  He just doesn't look like having a ceiling of anything more than the 20-25th best starter in the league when he peaks.  Even with him though, it is too early.  Look at Goff's rookie year.

The topic is asking about their play up until this point. Two years from now is anyone’s guess.

I’d like to see Baker vs the Jags.

He was hot garbage vs the Bucs/Texans/Steelers/Chargers.

You see right through my insecurities ????

Youre good Frazier !     I cherry picked 4 more games for you ??

If you want to call Baker hot garbage for all those games then I can only imagine how you’d describe Allen through majority of his games so far ?

Yep, and short term he was successful. Even still Tim Tebow completed 46.5% of his passes that year. Jackson is near 60%. We aren’t talking about “what it means moving forward.” The question is “which rookie QBs have played the best?”

No it is rate them. Rate them to me means how comfortable would you be with each of them based on what you have seen so far. I'd be least comfortable with the guy who has been used as a runner in an almost gimmicky way.

Results are in for the rookie QB's in week 13.

Here is how I rate them so far

5. Sam Darnold - Injured and when played very turnover prone.  Has made some flash plays, but weaknesses addressed in pre-draft scouting are really showing up.

4.  Josh Rosen - Not been impressive at all, no mobility, seems to lack arm strength to make all the throws.  Very low completion percentage for a QB with accuracy a strength coming in.

3.  Lamar Jackson - Not very much on the passing side, excellent runner.  Undefeated as a starter is a by-product of soft schedule as a starter.  Let's see what he's got next week against the Chiefs

2.  Josh Allen - Developing nicely, is everything in his pre-draft scouting report.  Magnificent arm, needs improvement in accuracy.  Running threat is more then what we expected.  Best long term upside of entire rookie class.

1.  Baker Mayfield - Accurate, strong feel for the game, prone to interceptions and may be as good as he is going to get

Beyond Josh, Baker may be doing the best of the others.

Lamar is a runner like Tuhrod and not a great passer.   He wasn't one of the QB's I ever wanted to see in Buffalo.

AZ beat the Packers...  the Rosen crowd must be happy

Meh. His passing has been desperat through 2 games. Running around doesn't impress me. You won't win that way long term.

Steve Young (past) - Cam Newton (present) called to say otherwise.

Big Ben used his legs a lot when he was younger and more mobile, so did guys like John Elway.  Around the league guys like Rodgers, Luck, Smith, etc. also have been guys who have to fear them beating you with their legs if they escape.

The difference is, Allen is already better with his legs than those guys outside maybe Newton, but even that’s debatable.

Allen is not running the way TT did or how Lamar is...his eyes are always downfield and makes a lot of throws on the run as he’s looking to throw first.  I mean he only ran 9 times this week, he was just lethal when he did and put up over 130 yards on 9 carries.

We have a #1 WR on paper in KB who has no separation and plays like he has no fight and could care less.  Other guys have had trouble consistently getting separation too.  So with a sub par WR group running routes and subpar OL blocking, it’s been more out of necessity for him to run than anything.  He’s still going through progressions and also still looking to throw when scrambling often before he commits to taking off unless the field is wide open.

So I disagree, he can win using his legs this way long term.  The issue we have is not that he’s using his legs so effectively, it’s the OL is weak and so are WRs overall forcing him to have to run more than he intends.  Once those two groups improve, he will take off less often, but still be lethal when he does.

I have yet to see him run because he didn’t see some wide open throws like TT.  It’s either a designed run, a run because the field is wide open when avoiding the rush, or because there was no where to go with the ball before the pocket failed.

Without question, #1 and #2 are Mayfield and Allen.  That’s how I ranked them on draft night too.

3 through 5 are not close to those 2 guys right now.  And how you rank them is debatebale based on the eye of the beholder.

1 Mayfield

2 Allen (and he’s closing the gap since coming back from injury)

*gap*

3  Lamar

4  Darnold

5. Rosen

I gave Lamar the nod at 3 because he is winning, and winning at a better rate than injured Flacco.  Winning matters in a close grouping.  Rosen has the 2nd worst game in NFL, second to only Peterman.  Darnold has a turnover issue like in college.  So you can make a case for one to be higher than the other.  But, Rosen has the worst game of the 2 even though he has slightly better weapons.  I also think Darnold has a brighter future with more arm talent and better leadership potential.

Agree.

Right now it is pretty even between Allen and Mayfield. Trying not to be homer fan, but I think Allen has the slight edge in upside potential--you can't teach the combination of size and athleticism.

Ravens are 7-5.   The prior 3 losses were to the Saints, Panthers and Steelers.

The last 3 W's were against a crumbling 5-7 Bungles team, a throw int he towel 2 -10 Raiders team and a WTF happened to the Falcons team @ 4-8.

Though I haven’t watched or scrutinized Mayfield anywhere close to as much as Allen, I’d contend that Mayfield is well ahead of Allen. He looks more adept at playing traditional QB in the NFL, whereas Allen still looks raw in many aspects. He’s more of an erratic, yet freakishly athletic QB that makes big plays scrambling while occasionally wowing you with a laser-like pass. He may never be a traditional NFL QB, and therefore will always have legions of skeptics.

Are you doing your qb rankings on the spreadsheet again this year?  Are these yours or QBR?  I would be interested to see what your sheet put out!

Those are the scores from my sheet, yeah. I haven't been doing posts specific to the spreadsheet, but I did post the stats for starters for week 12 earlier.

I also added a tab to my sheet comparing rookie year QB stats that I'll put out once the season wraps up.

Still feel like I did last week.

Mayfield

Jackson

Allen

Darnold

Rosen

Eventually I think Jackson comes back to Earth as he really is more of a gimmick quarterback.   However, for Allen to get to the top of this bunch, or anywhere near Mayfield, he really needs to get his yards per attempt and completion % up.   I thought his game yesterday was incredible, but total body of work still goes to Mayfield and Jackson, for now.
