This clip was within the article. Just posting it out here, for those who skip the article, because it's worth the reminder of what was said:

Of the first 1000 "slaves" brought to Virginia:

1) 998 of them were white,

2) None of them were slaves.  They were indentured servants, who became free men within 7 years of working off their indenture.

Sort of like they got their education (via apprenticeship), room and board for free and ended up having no student debt.

one entertaining article last week debunked a lot of the 1619 stuff

cotton was only a major crop for a few years, it was a longer fad than Tulip Bulb mania

and noted that Florida wasn't developed till well into the 20th century, so if cotton wasn't developed it  was no bigger economic loss than the fact that oranges weren't harvested until recently in history

and SUGAR was by far the most evil crop to work in (Louisiana's main max-sec prison still sends work details into the sugar cane fields, for which suicide and severe self-inflicted wounds is a major concern), and sugar wasn't a main crop of the US

some of this was tongue in cheek..

amazing how sugar gets this free ride on its harvesting slavery history and how it is allowed to put 60g in fruit drinks and coffees...

Jamaica was far better known for privateering than slavery.  So she was probably a pirate.

(Actually, she married a Jamican, she's originally from India.  I'm still going with "pirate.")

For that matter, how did Indians end up in all four corners of the world where the Brits still held colonies?

Sugar cane was actually so profitable that they'd work the slaves to death and import new ones rather than feed them.

the actual economics of the trade is interesting, took a few US history courses in University, one on slavery and Reconstruction

learned about some never-mentioned facts, one essay was on the rice crop's importance

5 months in Arkansas in the summer convinced me of that reality

The ‘reality’ is that the Left is promoting the same system now. It’s just that it’s in China and it’s all so that woke folk can get an iPhone for a few bucks less...and it helps that liberals can’t ‘see it from their house’!

Democrats Aim To Win Back Working Class With … A Meat Tax?

Issues & Insights, by The Editorial Board

Original Article

There’s been a spate of articles in recent days about how Democrats need to win back working-class voters who defected to President Donald Trump in 2016 if they want to regain the White House.

Right in the middle of this discussion, Sen. Bernie Sanders provided yet another reminder of how incredibly, unbelievably out of touch the Democratic Party is with those voters. An AP story this week talked about how Democrats face an “identity crisis” as they try to answer the question, “How can they peel back Trump’s support with white working-class voters while boosting turnout with minorities and suburban women?”

Cory Booker Wants to Fight Climate Change on the Cheap: Just $3 Trillion Over 10 Years.

All the really serious candidates have at least 14 digits in their plans, Senator.

DOES ELIZABETH WARREN EVEN REMEMBER WRITING THIS BOOK? It was titled “The Two-Income Trap”

and it argued, perhaps unknowingly, for the proposition that progressive taxes harm two-income families. Somebody should ask the candidate about this.

About that disastrous race for the Democratic Party's presidential nomination....

Some new polls (via Real Clear Politics?

Screen%2BShot%2B2019-09-04%2Bat%2B7.49.17%2BAM.png

What a mess! Biden is too old and too mentally weak to be President, yet he's just sitting there at the top, immobile. And the only other strong candidates are the distinctly lefty Warren and Sanders. Harris cannot advance to double digits. And the mayor of a small city is inexplicably parked in fifth place. What about all the governors? Have they all dropped out, or are some of them still in and invisible?

The polls are awful for the Democrats, who've exacerbated their problem with their structure for the debates — discussed in today's NYT podcast "The Daily" today: "The Sudden-Death Phase of the Democratic Primaries."

95% of voters couldn't care less about the election until the conventions

polls don't matter, people will answer any question you throw at them

one thing that always bothered me, a friend was on to his doctorate in sociology, his focus on juvenile criminals

so i asked him how he trusted any answer a felon gave him in an interview and he said he always assumed they were telling the truth

okay.....  i'd assume they were always lying but you know...

Elisabeth Warren when she switched to be a democratic said way back that she could be a republican again if  she had a chance to be president.

How come nobody ask her about those statements?

The only thing better than last night's Global Warming Cooling Climate Change Town Hall was following it on Twitter.

What a schitshow. Imagine getting a 2020 presidential candidate to admit we should use American taxpayer dollars to fund international abortions to control the population.

I'll assume all the leftists who visit this board are not commenting on this because they agree with Sanders.

Without irony or hesitation, Sanders laid out the EXACT plan which conspiracy nuts in the past three decades said the “new world order” wanted to achieve...

Kill the poor folk so the survivors have a cleaner planet.

Looks like the only question that the Lefties need to answer is: At what age do we limit "abortions"? The Warren faction was solidly behind the age of 18 since no human was worth anything to them prior to voting age but crafty old Sanders proposed that if the voting age was moved to 16, then he would be willing to cut off abortions at that age.
