Too good of a player to not be working on Sundays.

Panthers are now better than they were with the injured guys Eric replaces.  Would have loved to see him playing the Rafael Bush role for the Bills but Bush is doing a pretty darn good job.

Reid and Kaep are different in my opinion. Reid is a S and Kaep is a QB. One can argue that Reid is top 15 at his position, I don't think you can argue that about Kaep. You don't have to change your defensive scheme to try to fit Reid into it, but you would have to do so on offense with Kaep. I thought  Reid would have been on a team already, but at least he is getting his chance now.

I think Kaep is in the 15-30 range.  There was a stat that his last 6 games were almost identical to Jimmy G’s 6 games at the end of last year.

but good for the Panthers.  They are trying to make their team better instead of other BS.  Also, I look forward to Reid being on the Bills next year!

That's awfully generous. I put him in the 30-40 range, and that's omitting the rookies this year. In his last 21 games played he's sub 60% completions and averages 200 yards of offense per game, has a TD% of 3.32% and a TO% of 1.59%. He's basically Tyrod, but with less yards, less TDs, and more Turnovers. That doesn't even sniff 15th.

Reid on the other hand, is an excellent safety, so it's not surprising that he's getting a shot somewhere.

Doesn’t the team matter?  Those were dog ? 49ers offenses.  Again, his last 6 games were comparable to Jimmy G’s last 6 last year.  https://www.google.com/amp/s/touchdownwire.usatoday.com/2018/01/01/san-francisco-49ers-comparing-jimmy-garoppolos-2017-to-colin-kaepernicks-final-five-games-in-2016/amp/

and it’s ok to argue where he ranks but he isn’t an upgrade over Nate Peterman?  Carolina’s backup is who?  He definitely belongs in the league if you’re trying to put the best roster together.  He might not be a franchise qb anymore but he is a nfl qb, especially given some of the scrubs in the league.

I rank Kaep 30-40. I rank Peterman 241/241. Look, if you want to use 5 games that's fine. I'm talking about his performance in every game he has played in since 2015.

Most of his "stats" were put up whwn the game was decided. Go back to his last game against us. That's the player he is. Mediocre, can't succeed when forced to play from the pocket, doesn't really have that necessary touch, and was figured out by the league. 32-64 range type of QB, but he sees himself as a starter. The talent doesn't outweigh the potential for distraction according to NFL FO's.

I think Bush has been mediocre to bad.

To be fair he is playing Nickle. He is a safety. I don't think the plane was to play him there till Gaines and Johnson both got hurt and Davis left the team. He has played fairly well for being thrown into different positions.

If Josh Allen had a 16 td to 4 int ratio and his best receiver was Kerley, we’d have a parade.

As it should be.  Of course this is a stupid league where weed smokers are treated more harshly than woman beaters.

Not if they were under the same circumstances aforementioned and with the coinciding record. There's a reason he's not in the league and it's not because of the kneeling. Talent trumps controversy all day.

I’ll respect your opinion but this is BS.  If he didn’t kneel, he would have been competing for a starting job this offseason.

Look at Joe Mixon, Josh Gordon, and a host of others still in the league. Why are they still around? The perspective of their talent relative to the distraction they might possibly create. Kaep's Libra scale is tilted the wrong direction as pertaining to his limitations as a QB versus everything that would be thrust upon the table. I respect your opinion also my friend, but this is the way I have always seen it. The kneeling didn't help his cause, but there are numerous other factors as well.

This is really what yo hate going with?  All it shows is how completely tone deaf the nfl is.  Plastic faced Jerry Jones signs scumbags by the dozens but silent protesting is where he draws the line.  Are we sure Dak is better than CK now?

This league gave Rice a 2 game ban and claims they  couldn’t find a tape in casino.  Joe Mixon is on video knocking a woman out and he gets drafted in the second round.

Where were the protests for Mixon like there were for CK?  Where were the crosshairs shirts for Greg Hardy?  How about the Giants kicker who played for years while he was abusing his wife?

I love football but it’s amazing how hypocritical the nfl and some of their “patriotic “ fans are.  They don’t care about women beaters but don’t kneel and protest silently.  Pathetic and if you defend that, I wonder how you look at the women in your life (not directed at you but in general).

Im glad Reid got a job but the double standards in this league are insane.

P.S. I do respect your opinion even if we may not agree.  But man, it’s weird what some people overlooking and some things they get high and mighty about.

Don't worry, he was signed by the Panthers...the over/under for an inevitable trade involving the Bills and Beane is currently at 2 weeks...

I sat next to Eric's Grandfather (PhD in education/World Ambassador for the State Department) on a plane about 6 months ago...we had an awesome 90-minute conversation and my wife and I helped him curbside to his son (Eric's dad) in New Orleans.  Eric comes from very, very good stock.

I'd believe it - for what little I know about the guy, he's has incredible character. I would've loved to have seen him in Buffalo earlier when no one would sign him.

But that's a great personal story, and you're equally great for helping him curbside!

It was a selfish move--I got to talk with him for 10 minutes more...awesome man.

My wife said I was not just a jock-sniffer but now a grandpa of a jock, jock-sniffer...

I think the Bills struck gold last year with Hyde and Poyer, and there isn't enough money on any team for a third starter-caliber/starter-pay safety.  Otherwise I hope the Bills would have pursued Reid.

I had forgotten about Da'Norris Searcy, who played four years for the Bills.  He was a free agent this spring and settled for backup money at Carolina.  Possibly he's lost a step, but the younger Searcy would have been a great pickup as a backup safety for the Bills.

kneeling cost him millions this year

I am not sure that's true.  I think his age and his skill set limitations are what are really working against him now.

OTOH his kneeling has kept him in the public eye after he probably was washed up as a QB.  The kneeling will probably provide a longer-term payoff and a social-justice cred he couldn't get if he'd waited to retire before speaking out.
