Overall the Sammy Watkins Saga has been exhausting to me. But I think he’s shown a tendency to be mind-numbingly unintelligent and that’s caused issues toward him reaching his potential in the EN EFF EL.

Who are we, in our "little jobs", to judge.

Sammy seems to be saying the right things:

"I’m healthy, I can go out there and compete and let things go,’ " Watkins said about a nice contested catch going to the ground and bouncing right up. “I can run routes and just be confident in my routes and just go out there and catch.’’

Oh, wait, that was 11 months and 2 teams ago, at Bills camp.

Well, at least he's saying the right things about chemistry with the QB:

Building chemistry quickly with Watkins will not be an issue..

"It'll take a couple days," he said.

Oh wait, that was 10 months ago and 1 team ago....

It’s just funny that fans who are 40+ year old and constantly talk crap to players expect a 23 year old to be more mature. I have zero problem with players calling out reckless fans.  Some fans are total losers.

I will be at my little job later.

And for the Sammy cult, the seed has been planted for the excuse "reason" if Watkins 2018 production is mediocre once a gain.

Didn’t see this posted anywhere.

Sammy telling reporters he wants a “QB that he can grow with” and that’s why he picked KC. That’s coming from a team with Jared Goff at QB.

Kudos to the Bills for getting a 2nd rounder and Gaines for this guy, who certainly would have left in Free Agency and definitely has an attitude problem.

Nothing whatsoever wrong with this. Sammy doesn't have an attitude problem of any kind. A bit of social media awkwardness, but that's about all the problems he's got beyond how well he plays or doesn't.

That linked story is from the Rams POV. Which is why they manufacture a bit of Rams-centric bitchiness.

First, the Rams story is a response not to a public press conference but a different story from USA Today. That story doesn't even tell what question he was answering. So they could have asked, for all anyone knows,

https://www.usatoday.com/story/sports/nfl/chiefs/2018/06/11/chiefs-sammy-watkins-value-contract-statistics-andy-reid-kansas-city/691041002/

Here's the quote these Rams whiners are so upset about:  "I just made the playoffs one time, and I want to have a successful career. And the only way to do that is to get with a good coach and a good team, so I definitely looked at the players and the quarterback," Watkins, who spent 2017 with the Rams after being traded by Buffalo last summer, told USA TODAY Sports at last week's OTAs. "I got a young quarterback who might play 15 or 20 years and be great.

I didn’t want to be with an older quarterback. I came here to be with a young guy that I can grow with. I’m young, he’s really young. It’s a young team in general.”

That's it. That's what he said. Guy must be on crack. Sigh. This is outrage porn, finding no offense to be taken so you make some up.

Watkins never said that the Rams were included in the group he was choosing from. In fact, he almost certainly wasn't. As the Rams press says (far down) in the story, the Rams weren't willing to pay what the Chiefs were. Watkins was almost certainly talking about the group of teams that gave him the small group of offers he was actually making his final choice from. Which didn't include the Rams. If they'd wanted to be included in his deliberations, they could have ponied up. They didn't. Their choice. But don't then get all bitchy about being left out.

God, is this ever a mountain out of a molehill. Hell, there's not even a molehill there.

Now take the same logic and apply it to EJ Gaines and you'll arrive at one inevitable conclusion

The Bills were desperate to clear room on the salary cap, as Beane had flat-out promised the Pegulas to clear up by 2019 the serious cap problems Whaley left?

Doesn't hold water; they had cap room to manage their roster during the season already, and Watkins would've come off the books after 2017 regardless since they didn't pick up his rookie option

You don't see a problem with what Sammy said?  Goff is just 1 year older than Mahomes and has actually proven to be successful.  And the Rams are a younger and better team than the Chefs will be now that their defense is falling off a cliff.  He went where he got the most money.

It's not outrage.  It's really just calling out BS.  As Doc points out, Sammy's comment is complete BS.

He's leaving a young rising QB because he wants to go play with the Chiefs former rookie backup QB?  No.  He's going to the team that offered the most money--he should just state the obvious.  He could have "grown" with Goff, or Prescott---both better options than KC.

He convinced Andy Reid (a guy who just dumped Alex Smith in his prime for Mahomes) that his career numbers so far were worth 16 million a year.  Good for him. He doesn't need to insult the intelligence of everyone reading his quotes though....

Couple this with the Sammy doesn’t have an attitude problem of any kind comment and you could confuse anyone not paying attention. The cap wasn’t an issue and Watkins was/is a self admitted “diva” “stats guy” while he was in Buffalo. IIRC he made another comment about his own attitude while in LA.

Sammy got the money he wanted, I’m curious to see how he does in KC but some of this stuff is ridiculous.

That's because there is absolutely nothing wrong with what he said.  It certainly wasn't unclassy. He simply complimented his current QB---that Bastard!!!!  No mention whatsoever, of Goff. And as Watson was a FREE AGENT, Goff has nothing to do with the quote.

But some people are obsessed with making others look bad. Even if they have to take innocuous remarks and stretch them to fit their narrative. Shame on the OP.
