Jeff Skinner and the Sabres continued their remarkable run on Friday, rallying to beat the Montreal Canadiens 3-2 in overtime. Skinner provided the game-tying and game-winning goals, the latter of which came with the man advantage, giving him a league-leading 17 goals. Casey Mittelstadt opened the scoring with his fourth goal of the season. Hear from Skinner, Mittelstadt and Zach Bogosian after Buffalo's victory.

I'm beginning to think we got the better out of that Skinner trade.

By a mile, if he’s re-signed.

Figured that’s what would happen when they announced Scandella was playing. Bummer. I was hoping to see what he could do. But he will see games with the Sabres at some point this season.

Does anyone know how much one of these boxes cost for a game?

I believe they run $4000-$7000 per game. They are super expensive.

I get suite tickets once once in a while, but I don’t pay for them. Its definitely a great experience - all sorts of free food and drinks/alcohol etc, but there’s better ways to spend that much money... lol.

The schedule is really loaded with a lot of games in a short time span. It is really compressed. There's not not much time to get the aches and bruises healed. In our recent western trip the Sabres played three games in four days' They then returned home for a short break and now are playing back to back with one home game and won road game. This has become a sport where it is a requirement that  rosters be filled with a lot of young legs.

What was not acknowledged too much in the Montreal game was that Skinner's winning goal came off a Dahlin shot that was on net. The young Swede's role has steadily been increased. Already it is fair to say that he is an instrumental player. He's so smooth that you don't notice him as much compared to Eichel and Skinner who are more explosive players.

So what you are saying is that when you rabble rouse it can become contagious? You are a natural leader.  You have that IT factor which makes the masses want to follow! :)

Yeah some of you are. How many more wins will it take for most people in Buffalo to take notice. All I am saying is that people need to start paying more attention to a winning team.

My first star again goes to our goalie. Ullmark was excellent all game lone and in the shootout he was sparkling. Both of our goalies do not allow chances from rebounds.

This was an even game with the hallmark being fast skating. If your lineup doesn't have in general good speed you won't be able to keep up.

Tage Thompson is emerging as a player. He really is impressive as an offensive threat. He can skate, shoot and his long reach stick handling is nifty. He's also putting in the effort to play tough. I really like the way Housley and his staff have handled the young players. Their steady improvement is a tribute to their coaching.

It doesn't matter what the score is or the situation the Sabres play their game all the way through.

The Sabres have played six games in nine days. That's ridiculous. I'm exhausted!

All the victories in this streak have been against good teams. Maybe only Ottawa would be a second tier team but when we played them they were playing well. The Sabres are winning by playing well and tough. No victory in this streak has anything to do with a fluke. It's all about their play. They earned all their wins.

Not all hockey fans are football fans and vice versa. Why is it important to you? The city is going nuts over the Sabres.

I don’t know man... everyone I talk to in real life are all about the Sabres right now.

I’d you are talking about on this forum specifically, it’s a Buffalo Bills forum. It’s focused on football.

Two Bills Drive has a sister forum called SabreSpace for all hockey talk. Or check out the Sabres board over at HFboards. Or Go to a game. The (sold out) crowds have been nuts lately!

go Sabres!

Ullmark could have fallen apart after that softy but he did the opposite.   I don't know what to do with myself in the shootouts.   Last season if we missed even once, it was a loss.  Both of our goalies are playing great in the skills competition.

Scandella had another rough one and the PP still needs work... but you just can't find much to really B word about with this team.   It's alot of games against good teams in a short period of time but the boys just keep finding a way to get 2 points.  This is foundation building stuff.

Um.  Wow?

I think I was wrong about Thompson.

He is really emerging. Over the past few games you can see him play with confidence. He's got terrific offensive skills. What this staff was working on was to get him to play with a quicker pace when he had the puck. He has earned his playing time and it is going to get expanded with him on the PP. The ROR deal looks better and better. Mittelstadt gets bumped up and Thompson shows that he can play, and in addition we got another first round pick in our pocket. Impressive work by the GM.

Its always bothered me cause even when the Sabres do well all most on tv or radio for the most part want to talk about is the Bills. I like football, I just don't understand the obsession over a team that has been bad more then good.

The past two games were sell outs with  raucous crowds. You may not be aware of it but the city is already abuzz as the streak increases.

Buffalo pretty much invented the "arena is so sold out that 1000s of fans are going to watch the game together outside" thing that everyone else is currently copying.  The team has been brutal for almost a decade...historically bad.  They're going to own the region the rest of this season and every winter for the next decade, unless Josh Allen quickly becomes the real deal.

We love competitive teams and we support them like no one else does.

Football is just more important. NHL hockey is a second class citizen, just the way it is.  The NHL is bush league, always has been.
