Meeting and shaking hands with the commander in chief is one of the greatest honors an American can receive, no matter your political stripes. Well, there's the whole thing where Barack wasn't a misogynist, a bigot, completely unqualified for the job, an attention whore, illiterate, rude to dignitaries during visits and the most hated president of the country by the rest of the modern world. He made the prime minister of Israel leave out the back door and walk past heaps of garbage bags! (It may have been his first visit to the white house.) How was he qualified for the job of president? He was a college professor and no show senator! He wasn't the most hated, but he definitely was very polarizing, just like President Trump! Why would he give the players the opportunity to use it as a platform to express their political views if he is opposed to them? You know the media would have been all over who wasn't attending and why.
