Too many folks are QB drunk. That includes a lot of folks on this board. When the draft is so clearly unknown in the top 1-10 that has to tell you that these QB's are not like the premier guys from the past. I trust OBD brass to know that. What do you think? Ummm....if there were an obvious hall of famer, we wouldn't have a prayer of drafting him given that we have the 12th pick. The uncertainty of which you speak is a problem for all picks, not just QB's. Your logic would lead to the Bills never picking a QB high in the draft unless they are either "lucky" enough to have been the worst team in football the same year that an "obvious" future legend was available in the draft or they had a reasonably high pick in a year with multiple "premier guys" populating the draft. Waiting around hoping for lightning to strike is not a strategy. No one can read the future but your notion that the draft is "so clearly unknown" overstates the matter. The draft is and always has been a gamble, a casino where you bet on the future. The odds might not be great at the craps table or black jack but they are a lot better than the slots. And if you don't like gambling, then maybe football isn't your game. But if you do, leave the slots to grandpa and put your money down, take your shot and stop whining about the lack of a crystal ball.

Real McClappy
There are solid QB's in this draft class I fully expect 2 or 3 of them to be franchise as well. It;s just sorting through them and hitting the right guy. We don't wan't the Blackledge, Eason and O'Brien over Marino like that draft class. Get it right OBD...... 1983 draft is eerie similar to this one, look at the #2 pick in Eric Dickerson = Barkley

Potential? I would hope better if we give up what it looks like it would take. Heck, Peterman has potential. While I think there are no obvious generational talents in this group it is the best QB stacked draft in quite a long time, since 04 maybe? I don't think any of them are worth mortgaging the farm since there are so many holes and the team is more than a QB away from scaring anyone. buffaloboyinATL
I agree. We should only draft sure things. Once the first 5 or 6 players are off of the board, the Bills should just pack up their things and head back home. Why bother drafting players that are not a guaranteed success in the NFL... freddyjj
I will play the law of averages. 2 will be Franchise QBs, All Pro, potential HOF careers in store. 2 will be good, average long term starters. And 2 will be below average NFL Journeyman. The tough part is figuring out who's who before the draft! Let's look at the OP's 1983 draft as a sample. The 1st QB taken,(Elway) the 3rd QB taken (Kelly) and the 6th QB taken (Marino) in Rd 1 all became HOFers and true Franchise QBs. Tony Eason was the 4th QB taken and Ken O'Brien was the 5th Qb taken and both had 10 year careers in the league with NFL Starter average results. Only Todd Blackledge, the 2nd QB taken, would qualify as a bust. This years class are not as experienced coming out of college save for Mayfield and Rudolph. But the talent is there with all 6 of the top prospects. Time will tell.

Heck, Peterman has potential. All QBs are drafted based on their potential. Drafting Wentz was a huge risk but the Eagles took a chance and benefited from it.. You have to do your homework then hope for the best. Peterman does not have these guys potential.
